War in Ukraine

Now Chris Christie makes surprise Ukraine trip: 2024 Republican hopeful lays flowers at a defensive line hammered by Russia - and gives Zelensky a handwritten Jon Bon Jovi song

  • Christie made the secret trip to Ukraine to make the case for continued support for Kyiv's armed forces.
  • He slammed fellow GOP hopefuls looking to slash military aid to the war-torn country.
Republican presidential long-shot Chris Christie has made a surprise trip to Ukraine and thrown his weight behind Kyiv's bid to defeat Russia.

The ex-New Jersey governor met with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky as part of his first trip to the war-torn country since Moscow's full-scale invasion began in February last year.

He praised the former actor-turned-wartime leader for showing 'the resolve it takes to survive a war and ultimately win it.'

Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor hoping to pip Donald Trump to the GOP nomination, caused uproar earlier this year when he called Russia's invasion a 'territorial dispute'.

Donald Trump, seen here arriving on Thursday for his indictment on federal conspiracy charges, claims he would make support for Ukraine conditional on Kyiv investigating Hunter Biden's business dealings in the country.

Apparently the 2nd attack on July 17 caused damage to the railway portion of the bridge also. So there isn’t any significant traffic on the bridge now.

Exclusive: Satellite photos reveal railway damage from Crimea bridge strike

While the visible portion of the railroad structure appears stable and is likely able to safely carry passenger cars, a source with knowledge of construction work at the Crimean bridge told Molfar that as one column has cracks, the movement of freight trains across the bridge is no longer possible.

The real trick would be to light up an oil tanker under the Kerch bridge and keep it stuck there.
What's reported is that the engine room was hit and is taking on water. Hopefully, no leakage. Already a really bad look for Ukraine to be hitting a civilian vessel

Don't I remember that Russia has targeted some civilian ships in the Black Sea? They certainly weren't far off that mark when they attacked the grain terminal a few days ago. While I agree with you in general, it seems that Russia has set the precedent. Besides you never can tell what happen when somebody is swilling vodka and smoking in the engine room. I didn't see the nationality of the ship, but am I wrong in supposing it is Russian?

8 whole pilots... WOW.

Eight Ukrainian pilots ready to train on F-16s

The U.S. official further said 20 pilots that speak some English are available to start language courses in the United Kingdom as soon as this month. (That may be what Ukrainian President VOLODYMYR ZELENSKYY meant when he announced the start of F-16 training in August.) Altogether, 32 Ukrainian pilots — enough for two squadrons — have been identified to potentially take part in the training program, but English proficiency remains a sticking point.
