War in Ukraine

Attacks on Russia were the only thing that was going to make the Russians reconsider or seriously discuss peace. If you fight on someone else's turf and have no real stake in the damage (except casualties and weapons losses), there's just no incentive to either stop or be reasonable. The reluctance on the part of Ukrainian allies to limit Ukraine to defensive battle is understandable, but it only serves to prolong the conflict. The bully isn't going home until he gets his butt beat AND has to defend his own turf. We still tend expect others to look at events as we do, and that's been proven wrong time after time. There may be a rah rah moment here when conflict starts, but when body bags start coming home the support usually dies pretty quickly - doesn't work like that in a lot of the rest of the world - particularly Asia and Africa.
‘tis but a flesh wound

Who is going to beat Russia's butt right now? Certainly Ukraine can't do it. Germany? Poland? France? Collective NATO?

32 countries combined in NATO would at the very minimum have to have 300k boots on the ground just to get started... and they can't do it at this moment. Not to mention the weapons they would need. This is futile.

The West's only hope at this point is to stop... or go with the nuclear haymaker and pray they can win a first strike nuclear conflict. The latter option is a gamble with all life on earth as we know it, however.

I think Kuleba actually has a point in this instance. If the Ukrainians are not advancing as fast as they would like, maybe they need to go to the front lines and show them how its done.

"I would recommend all critics to shut up, come to Ukraine and try to liberate one square centimetre by themselves," Kuleba said, standing alongside Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.

1. Rocking the track suit. a good ole CCCP (USSR) one at that.
2. definitely pushing the use of nukes, even though Ras says its only us
3. Wants to escalate the war
4. wants to forcibly silence any critics
5. Calls many Russian's slaves of the dollar, and too worried about their own economy.
6. I will say I agree with him at the 4:20 mark, if the attack was launched from NATO territory, assuming they knew about it, it would be an act of war by NATO against Russia, even if it was Ukrainians doing it.
7. Not sure if this is just this guy, how Russians talk, or how their media talk, but to me it seems like he is constantly reading a script, having to pause and read something off his laptop constantly. IDK maybe there is a chat going on that is what he is responding to. In which case this dude is essentially a Twitch streamer. but even in his responses there are strange pauses, so it seems like there is more than just incoming chats that he is pulling from.
8. Ras won't be happy to hear his comments at the 8:00 minute mark. He is questioning the purpose of striking their infrastructure, says it was pointless.
9. I didn't see where the experts were quoted like the tweet says. All I saw him quote were the random people using the chat or who had sent in their mail or whatever they use.
Not to nitpick, but, yeah, I'll nitpick. Unless it was sanctioned by NATO be an act of war by a NATO country, not NATO. I'm not sure that would trigger mutual defense provisions in the treaty.

Ukraine already has that many troops there. If we just gave them air superiority they could quickly drive Russia out.

Ukraine has been doing it. No knockout, that's true, but the three day event is in it's second year, and Russia is losing ground just like they've lost a lot of troops, equipment, weapons, and their only effective army - which also mutinied. You should be asking whether all the little events in Russia, like plane and "firework" plant burnings, are actually carried out by Ukrainians or by Russian dissidents.

The only thing making Russia look "competent" at this point is their opportunistic planting of minefields when they had the chance.

None of that is true and you know it. Where are you getting this from? CNN? FOXNews? The Pentagon?

I read somewhere that Russians are so convinced that their cousins in Ukraine should really want to be Russian, that they have to make up some crazy reason for the war like brainwashing or Nazis or NATO is somehow forcing them to fight. Otherwise their brains can't deal with it.
It happens because they have a state run media. They literally aren't allowed to think anything else. They have had lies parroted to them for decades. Its a more inbred media/government relationship than even we have. As bad as people in the US are for buying into what the media says without questioning its worse in Russia because they have no way to question it. we can at least go to outside sources, they can't.

That's a fair clarification. It wasn't my intent for it to be ALL of NATO declaring war. It would be whatever nation hosted/sanctioned that attack from their land. and yes Article 5 couldn't be used to draw in everyone else, but I think at this point several nations would be ready to join in.

the Russians aren't losing land, equipment, men? wtf are you smoking?

Please provide some type of link to any of these territory gains you think Russia has made.

and I love how you just ignore all these drone attacks in Russia, the loss of shipping in the Black Sea.

How does a war of attrition even work in your mind? It requires both sides to take pretty considerable losses, you are literally just hoping your enemy runs out first, not that you aren't taking losses.
