Was Keyen Green that important?

Yes!! Green was the heart.

We need to find a replacement.

I felt the same last season: that losing Green took a big toll on the team performance. I feel "worse than the same" for this season.

I was hard on Coach for putting Emily in too early v Aub. But when I saw Karoline's performance v Fla, I saw little difference in value. I still think KS has more upside, but the biggest upside is the transfer portal for a big.
Otherwise, putting Puckett or Dye there for this season may be necessary.

Striplin had 2 fouls in 2 min vs UF's bench. She is slow and not prime time ready this season. At least Emily brings more size, but backup post is a huge issue. They could go with Dye or Puckett, but neither will be able to defend any half decent post. I'd hate to see them trying against any of the posts or PFs on SC's team.

Key will end up playing a lot of minutes, and will lose effectiveness big time. They won't be able to rely on her fixing all of their defensive misses, so they need to all commit to defense and rebounding.

Puckett and Dye are already playing the post. As for Emily she did not look bad vs Fla she went and and gave the team some good mins. Now as for Striplin i`m on board with you she is not SEC caliber right now.

Same. I was advocating for Karo to play, but once again the coaches are there everyday and from what I saw last night, they were correct.

Like i said before there was a rush to judgement on Striplin skills coming in and i`m not attacking the her i`m just laying out the facts i posted about her not playing against competitive competition in HS over the summer. As for Dye and Puckett there roll now gets bigger. A smart move would be to move Horston to the 3 spot so don`t need to handle the ball as much ? Most of Horston TO come when she is playing pg bring the ball up the court. Key will need to play 35-38 mins with Emily as the backup.

She was surprisingly slow. Much like with Emily, idk how you fix that as a coach. I hope they’re in the portal EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

Yes. And is. The Lady Vols are a team unlike, say, UConn, a Paige team. You don’t win nattys with one star player. We are a role team, which was Pat’s philosophy. Key’s role on the floor was to direct, calm, hold it all together through her example and and instructions. I see Tess taking over this role even though she’s only a sophomore. I can see Karoline taking over this role eventually. The game is so much more than 5 stars and flash.

A top five ranking mid season doesn't get us a trophy,
I don't know about that. Some places it could get you a banner, or even a statue!
Am I reading, then, that you think this team—despite being ranked in the top eight—is a paper tiger
Well, yes. I wouldn't actually want to say it that way, but yeah. Have you been following all season? Pulling together parts to patch together a whole that's better than it should be has been the throughline. So there was total fear that at some point a margin for error that slim was going to get ripped. Just didn't think it would happen in the arse whuppin way it has. With effin UConn licking their chops. But we'll see if the scrappy lil up and coming overachievers can do it again.

KJH is in that dog chasing tail spot where she needs wins to snag recruits and recruits to snag wins. Makes the next strectch all the more crucial.

I want them both to take up residence in the strenght and conditioning room.

I just heard Ace Strickland decommitted from West Virginia. The first thing Kellie should do when she lands back in Knoxville is call her.
