Was the 2006 class our worst ever?

Anybody ever wonder why Fulmer was fired look at this. Only Stocker has surpased expectations. Not one of those other guys met expectations which were not high to begin with. Just terrible. Tennessee Commit List for 2006

Your right about this being one of our worst classes. But I'd disagree, and say that LaMarcus Thompson played pretty solid when he had to. Same with Gerald Williams.

Agreed 2008 much worse. You have have a lot of contributors from the 2006 class unlike the 2008 class which totally blew!
Yes, but will 2008 have the impact 2006 had? 2 words.....Cunningham/Lincoln :banghead2:

Maybe. Lincoln cost us at least 2 games over his career but I would think the lack of depth from the 2008 class contributing is much worse.

That pretty much tells you why we are at where we are.I hope he doesn't feel bad about 6 mil he walked away with.

Discounting LaMarcus Thompson, Gerald Williams, Quentin Hancock, and Jacques McClendon seems a tad drastic.

06 and 08 were not good classes for Tennessee, and when you figure most of the 07 class fizzled out or transfered, then you get the current mess at Tennessee.

On the plus side, a solid 09 class, and what looks like another solid 10 class will go a long way towards healing UT's depth woes.

Seriously, one more decent class in 11, and Tennessee will be right back in the top 4 of the SEC.

This is from an outside perspective, but the doom and gloom here is way overblown.

Agreed. Good objective post.

I went back and was looking over several of the recruiting classes and it is very clear that Fulmer and crew was very lazy on the recruiting trails...I mean seriously...Good example, Look at the 2009 class...Take away Kiffins recruits and look at the class...Not exactly top notch...In fact below average.

What have Williams and Hancock ever proven? Sure they may have played alot but they haven't done anything. McClendon is the most overrated VOL I have seen in a long time. For as strong as he was he didn't drive anybody off the ball. Look at NFL projections he's not even going to get drafted after starting for 4 years.

This ^ combined with the fact that over 15 players left or were dismissed under the Lame regime.

When you start top 10 team (maybe 5, I can't remember) at the start of the season and finish 5-6, you lose a lot of recruits.

Basically i would think like this:
Jacques McClendon, Quinton Hancock, Luke Stocker, Nick Stephens, LaMarcus Thompson, and Jarrod Shaw
VS.
Rod Wilks, Tauren Poole, Marlon Walls, Montori Hughes, Willie Bohannon, Herman Lathers, Gerald Williams, and Brandon Warren, + 2 or 3 more development.

Idk i think 2008 is going to be better at least.

"Brokeback Mountain" isn't just a movie. It's also what Rod Wilks calls the pile of dead UF WRs in his frontyard.

This thread needed some uplifting via Rod.

Probably our worst class since the Bill Battle era, when there were several awful recruiting classes.

Look at our 2002 class and you can see how lazy the staff got as time went on.

Just looked at the 2002 class and noticed something very interesting. We had five 5 stars that year and none of them ended up being NFL players.(Gerald Riggs Jr and JT Mapu were both signed to practice squads at sometime or another but neither ever played in a game)

We had two 2 stars this same year and of the two one is an NFL starter now(Jason Hall)

Things that make you say hmmmm
