I'm sure the Bama player's reaction wasn't provoked in any way from LSU fans chirping at them throughout the game...especially when LSU thought they had the game won.

Nope, those LSU fans sitting behind Bama's bench were probably well behaved and mild mannered all night long. Baton Rouge is well known for its hospitable home fans...especially when Alabama comes to town. LSU has a great deal of respect for Alabama's coach....they absolutely love the guy.

LSU fans are right up there with Nebraska when it comes to being nice to visiting fans.

This.

The Alabama player's reaction was just as much a "heat of the moment" thing as Bray's, so that's a wash. LSU is notorious for having some of the worst fans toward opposing teams and fans, especially on Saturday nights. So it's not like the Alabama player was making that motion towards a bunch of nuns.

Basically IMHO if you criticize one, you have to criticize both.

Also, curious as to why you say Bray's was "much worse" than Sims?

Well, a throat slash represents killing someone by taking out their jugular.

A chop to the crotch represents just saying suck my....you know....

Obviously this is a way too literal explanation, but the point remains.

If I legitimately thought Bray would run over and slit Butch's throat, I would agree.

I think what Bray did was immature and stupid, I simply said I thought Sims' gesture was not similar. Both are uncalled for.

Where did I excuse Bray's behavior?

Bray throat slashed an opposing team's bench in the heat of competition while a guy on the bench throws the "suck my ****" sign to fans. Difference.

In comparing the two, it sure sounds like you are excusing Bray's over Alabama's. The "in the heat of competition" sure sounds like an excuse.

I still can't believe people complain about Bray's move. It's not like he is going to literally slash someone's throat. Jeebus H.

The point of posting Bray's move wasn't to complain, it was a comparison for those having fake outrage over what the Alabama player was doing.

Because simulating slashing someone's throat, to me, is worse than a DX crotch chop.

Also factor in Bray's gesture took place while the game was still in question, and he's showing up his opponent. It was an immature and unnecessary gesture at that point in the contest. It was hard to have sympathy for him crying at the end of the UNC game.

As far as the Bama kids are concerned, I have no doubt Bama's bench was getting taunted all night long by LSU's fans. At Death Valley (and The Swamp), the first 5-10 rows behind the visitng team's bench are designated for the visiting team's fans. I've sat behind UF's bench at Baton Rouge and it's no picnic. Their fans are ruthless.

Factor in a night game against #1 Alabama...less than a minute away from a monumental upset, and I have no doubt the Bama kids were retaliating for all the trash talking from LSU's crowd.

I don't condone either gesture, but as a former player who's been taunted by rival fans, and as a visiting fan sitting within earshot of the visiting team's bench, I fully understand the Bama kid's reaction. During the heat of battle, on the field long before the game is decided, there's never a place for a throat slash gesture.

I agree with everything, I would just add to the bolded. IMO there's never a place for either (even if the fans are extra mean)

The only difference for me is fans vs. opposing team. It might be different viewpoints for us because I've never been an SEC player and been in the situation.

Once again, where did I say that?

Would you read my whole post and stop trying to argue like a 4 year old?

Good lord dude, I would say you are arguing like a 4 year old but that would be insulting 4 year olds. You are the one arguing in circles. You said:

If I legitimately thought Bray would run over and slit Butch's throat, I would agree. , after it was pointed out that the throat slash movement stimulates murdering someone and therefore is probably worse than thrusting your crotch towards someone. So I asked, did you legitimately think the Alabama player wanted someone to "suck it"?

Is that simple enough for you to follow?

A Fla fan complaining about any other SEC fans hospitality is f'n rich. I guess piss bombs and Fulmer's wife getting pinched was classy compared to LSU fans. Good Lord.

What's f'n rich is your lack of reading comprehension skills.

Explaining a possible motive for the Bama kid's gestures towards LSU's fans is complaining. Got it.

No, my reading comprehension is just fine. When you bag on another fanbase for giving Bama players the business when your own fanbase is known for being one of the most vile POS in the SEC then it is truly f'n rich.

Not only is it rich, it's hilarious.

Again, hey pot, say hello to kettle.

So UF's rep precludes me from commenting on interactions between LSU fans and Bama players...because I'm a UF alum.

Got it.

I died laughing when I saw it.

Who cares?

I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing it back towards a fan that had been doing it to their bench all game every time LSU scored.
