And again observed how Dooley quite literally looked totally lost, literally like a deer in the headlights. I then relaxed and returned my thoughts to tonight's scrimmage and to how great of a job Butch Jones is doing. I sure hope the Network limits our exposure to those horrid times.

Why?

I also had the misfortune of turning on the SEC Network mid-Vandy beatdown. It felt weird typing that. "Vandy beatdown" is an oxymoron if you don't mean they're on the receiving end, really. I did catch CP's destruction of their punter shortly thereafter, so that helped. I also saw Lane make a good run. I love how he moves outside only as much as he has to in order to keep moving forward, even then. That'll be a valuable trait at times this season as we break in a new group of starting O-linemen. I think the combination of the running styles of Lane and Hurd could really make up for some deficiencies this season. To me, Hurd's pass protecting abilities are just as valuable as his running abilities, given our WR corps.

No need to rehash unpleasant memories, the past two meetings were aberrations and candy will live on 'em for generations to come. :shakehead:

And to think there were those who still stood by him midway through the 3rd year calling everyone else who saw Dools for what he was negavols.

I thought about watching it, but I decided to just go out and slam my head in the car door for a while instead.

I feel like I made the right choice.

Did you happen to see me standing behind the Tennessee bench yelling at Dooley and telling him not to get back on the bus?

CP just did not belong with that team. I remember on our first possession Bray threw to CP in space and you just knew it was going for 6. He broke a Vandy DB's ankles CP-style and walked into the end zone. It was called back, but still. It was just amazing how he was in open space.

The defense that year, which was the sole reason we were 5-7, single handedly will make him a forgotten player because of how bad we were, when in reality he's one of the best players to ever step on the field for Tennessee and wear the orange.

Awful.

I can't watch games like that I'll be mad the rest of the day. Now we will be vandy and their fans will be like " it's cause James Franklin is gone"

7-5, with Mizzou & South Carolina being potential wins. Maybe.
Offense was not world beaters against good defensive teams and normally struggled to get going, while we fell behind because we couldn't stop people. Bray didn't really have a good game against any of our rivals that year. The defense was terrible, but the offense was average, at best.
There were decent stats offensively, but a quick recap will show that we were not much of a threat other than to Akron or Georgia St.
