Please move if necessary.
I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how this works.

  • What service do I use?
  • What is the most economical option?
  • Can I just use it at my tailgate and not have to pay for it at home also?
  • What equipment do I need?
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. My buddies and I have been wanting to do this for a long time but I don't even know where to begin.

Honestly the best option is one of the satellite providers. If you use it at home all you have to do is have a dish and take one of your receivers from home and it will work anywhere. You just have to tune in the dish and there you go.

I've seen people use an actual dish and I know people that have the dish that is mounted to the top of the vehicle. The reception is pretty good. Pricey, though.

Most economical way is to use an inverter conected to your cars battery supply. (you will need to run the motor from time to time to keep the battery charged). You can go with a regular antenna to get ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.

You can also rent a Honda generator at most equpment rental supply stores for a few dollars for the weekend.

If you want ESPN, you have the option of a sattelite dish (assuming you have Direct or Dish at home). You can buy a portable maual dish at Walmart for less than $100 bucks. You can get an automatic dish that you set on the ground at Camping World for around $600 last time I checked.

If you don't want to use the sattelite option, you can use the Watch ESPN AP with a conection to your TV (like Apple TV or straight wire connection).

Good luck!

You have to live really close to the stadium. Get about 3 or 4 miles of coaxial cable on a spool and hang it out the window as you drive down to whatever lot you are parking at. You will also need a really long extension cord. Preferably orange, obviously.

Or you can buy an HD antenna for around $30 bucks.

This will allow you to get regular stations like ABC, CBS, NBC in high def.

Useful if the game you want to watch is on CBS. Not useful if you're trying to get ESPN.

Amazon Link to RCA antenna

Here's an idea..............

Actually go to the game. Buy a ticket, put down the bottle(s) and actually walk into the stadium and watch the game sober. That way you can remember the game and the experience.

To do what you are suggesting is just nuts!!!!

There's also the Slingbox

Slingbox.com - Slingbox

I love this thing. You can control your tv from anywhere.

At home, around town, around the world. With a Slingbox, you can watch and control your TV and all of its programming, live, over the Internet on your PC, Mac®, tablet, smartphone or connected TV.
Watch television exactly as you would at home. With the on-screen remote control and program guide, you can change channels, schedule recordings on your DVR, fast-forward, rewind, pause and play. You'll never be separated from your favorite TV shows, sports broadcasts, breaking news stories, digital video recordings or video on demand — wherever you are.

I go the cheap route, the slingbox App on my phone and hook it up to 60 inch TV. Video quality is very good to OK, but sound always good. If you park close to somewhere that has Wifi, you'll have great video.

Think Orb is another app that works with cable at home.

A lot of ppl do this... They can eat the food they want, drink or not, play games like beer pong or cornhole, etc.

I've done both, go to the game and have a badarse tailgate party, and both are equally fun in their own respects.

Maybe you're in a wheelchair or have physically limiting disease, you might want to take in the gameday atmosphere without fighting the stadium crowd.

The moral is dont be an arse, and dont jump to conclusions based on your arsie-ness (yea i made that word up, boom)

Stop making accuses for bad behavior. Why not stay home and watch or go into the stadium?

I think I basically cleared that up in my previous post.

however, I'll play. Maybe they have a lot of friends and they live in an apartment. They can't fit their 30 friends inside or grill, so they do it at the stadium. That way, they can all be there, some can go to the game if they want, they can involve other Vol fans, and yell at opposing fans.

Now there's an "accuse" for you.

I had you on "ignore" for a while and forgot why... Thanks for the reminder. You're just hating on something so hard bc you dont understand it. True ignorance right there.

You know why I was defending the OP? Bc a couple of years ago me and 74 year old grandfather went to a game and by the time we walked from our parking space, up the stairs to our seat, he was exhausted.

(He's had a few strokes and at least one heart attack that we know of.)

Anyway, by halftime, he was not feeling well and the memories of Neyland were getting ruined by his health.

We should have known, but hey, we wanted to give it a shot bc we arent sure how many seasons he has left. On our way out, we ran into a big group tailgating with a tv and bbq, and they offered us a cold beverage and a seat bc my grandfather probably looked rough.

Well, we sat and talked for a few minutes, drank some tea, ate a bite and headed home. He bragged about how nice and courtieous those ppl were for weeks and was happy that we went.

Just bc you dont enjoy something or think it's a good idea, doesn't mean it's not a good thing. This guy was asking about hooking up his TV, and u just had to butt in with your ignorant opinion on how he enjoys the Vols.

If you dont have something to add, just move on to the next thread and quit trolling.
