Not a movie recap but here is an article from a critic who talks about the things that he thought might be helpful to know from the original comic for the show.Interesting first episode but I'm not really following everything. Or maybe we're not supposed to yet?
I'm not going to re-watch the movie, but I'll probably hunt down a movie recap and see if that helps some.
The second episode definitely increased my interest but I am also wary of the Lindelof signature move, which is to do weird, random stuff that never ends up having a cool explanation.
I’m really only familiar with Lost. Which I enjoyed but admit they started several mysteries but turned out they really had no plan for it.
What other shows is he guilty of this?
This episode really turned the graphic novel on it’s head. Sort of. It was always heavily implied he was this circus strong man but no one knew for sure. So this certainly fits
I don’t really get why his wife left him though. Or did she find out about the gay stuff and I just missed that?

She may have figured out the gay affair but imo it was because she felt like he had become consumed with his alter ego and his “mission”.
Hmm... seemed like she was pushing the mission in the beginning. Didn’t it happen after he caught his son purring on the costume? I was working on something else while watching so I may have missed something.

Yeah, they showed us that he was evolving into this new existence (gay, angry, consumed with Cyclops) but they didn't really show her experience that much. It was kinda like she was supporting his being a superhero, then we have the scene where he tells her he doesn't want to go back to Tulsa, then she leaves him because he had a little freakout on the kid. It doesn't totally add up and you gotta fill in some spaces and assume she was seeing a lot of the stuff we were seeing. But again, I don't care. I can handle little plot holes like that because I don't even want to see the scenes where we get those specific answers.
