Here’s a list of proposal from Vox cofounder Matt Yglesias for the DNC moving forward:

1. Economic self interest for the working class includes robust economic growth

2. Climate change is a reality to manage not a hard limit to obey

3. The government should prioritize the interest of normal people over those who engage in antisocial conduct

4. We should, in fact judge people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin

5. While race is a social construct, biological sex is not

6. Academic and nonprofit staffers do not occupy a unique position of virtue relative to private sector employees

7. Politeness is a virtue but excessive language policing alienates normal people

8. We are equal in the eyes of God, but the American government can and should prioritize the interest of American citizens

9. Public services must be run in the interest of their users, not their providers.

It lacks detail but I agree with most...maybe all. Wish fiscal responsibility was on that list.

Agreed, but I think it’s partially because some of these are primarily issues of rhetoric. Such as the praising of academics and non-profits and how it can alienate working class people.

On other points I think how it would manifest in policy is more clear (like not providing government assistance to illegal immigrants).

Either party could start tomorrow talking about how it takes work to meet human needs and work is actually pretty satisfying. They could start re-educating the people who will listen to them about how money is imaginary but work is real, and they can work for the world they want to live in. They could be telling people that you can’t possibly have a right to somebody else as that is slavery. If either party did this it would be enough of a shock to kinda reset the party. Then they could start talking about the math around what they want to do, in terms of the work. Pretending it takes money rather than work is no longer working and obvious lies are also a problem. This is basically fascist, so only the democrats can do it.

The problems of humanity are great fun for people to talk about, but obvious lies and just stupid statements poison it.

They will have to stay away from the media. The purpose of TV is to sell potato chips. They cater only to the cortisol addicts.

If the democrats had the above platform with a halfway decent orator behind it, they would’ve won in a run away

Instead they’ve catered to the extremes of their party

They talk about conservatives have a women problem (which apparently it wasn't as bad as they thought) but the liberals definitely have a man problem and a Christian Evangelical problem. Two bases that they have left heavily. The platform by Vox that the OP posted would be a step in the right direction.

Republicans are not perfect but they offer nothing to someone like me (a white, protestant, Tennessean). The Democrats were a force in the 1990s. They need to look to that era.

You are either part of the coin or you are not. Maybe the light bulb will go on now, but most likely not.

A good chunk of that could be addressed with a simple "Feelz ain't Realz my peeps."

-Don’t run a 90 iq candidate (just because it worked once doesn’t mean you can keep going to the well)

-Don’t use the Cheneys’ as supporters

-Don’t make up “firing squad” rumors about Liz Cheney. If Trump had really said that he probably would’ve received more votes

-Have a candidate that shows up sober

-Don’t rely on corporate media for your campaign. Their time is up and no one rightly believes anything they say

-Celebrity worship culture is dying. Don’t rely on them either.

These are some easy starters

While I agree with these, several are just different ways of rejecting the "identity politics" the Left "woke" nonsense. The Left and to a much lesser extent, the Right have used every possible "identity" aspect to try and keep people divided. The most tired trope is surely racism, but also attempts to divide based on sex, age/generation, religion etc. The politics of hate. In reality, the vast overwhelming majority of people dont hate their neighbors, fellow Americans, or even others that think differently than them. Most people have lost all trust for media, government, and in some cases law enforcement as well as the medical profession, and especially drug companies. People are finally taking the old advice to "believe nothing you hear, and only half what you see." I dont know when or if trust will ever be fully restored after events such as Covid, election fraud, and endless wars waged for profit. The distrust of the American people is well founded, and the Republicans better remember this and tread lightly.

In fact, not to derail this thread as we can discuss this elsewhere...but the Republican Party needs to get as far away from the big government "Reagan Repubs" and "RINOs" as they possibly can. If they want to stay in power past the midterms, there needs to be meaningful cuts across the board in spending, and serious reduction in the size of the federal government. We need actual Conservatives. Fiscal. Conservatives. Not so much social. No Christian that I know wants Christianity to be taught in our public schools as mandatory or curriculum. Nor do they care what anyone does in their bedroom, as long as among consenting adults. It isnt 1924, and you cannot legislate morality nor religion. We just dont want our tax dollars paying for sex changes or trans nonsense in schools either. None of that crap should ever be in schools. Children are sent to school to learn core subjects that will help them in life. We need to get the shop classes and apprenticeship programs back working ASAP though. Those are skills that pay the bills.

The people in my orbit just want a much smaller government to butt out of their lives and quit spending like drunken sailors. They want a balanced budget. Fiscal responsibility. No more social engineering and divisive rhetoric and policy. People just want a fair shot to live their lives in peace and raise a family in a safe and private manner. They are done hearing about racism, sexism, or any other "ism". They want to be left the Hell alone, and not have the huge chunk of their income they pay in taxes wasted on nonsense. They want America to put Americans first and close the dang border 100%...yesterday.

None of these things will happen. If anything, the leftist filth will redouble their efforts to push even further left. In their minds Daddy Donny is just a temporary setback to their plan.

The Dems will double down. That party is ruled by the extreme left so much that it has alienated what had been their traditional power base, the average blue collar worker. Those votes have shifted to Trump. When a large amount of union workers are turning away from the Democrats, that should tell them something.

I agree with you. The dems have hitched their wagons to the far left, which is their base and who controls who their primary nominee is. A more sensible candidate is not likely to get the far left support.

The problem the democrats have is that they have accepted, and even nurtured, the crazy wing of their party so long that any attempt to reign them in and return to common sense progressive positions would inevitably break the party. The fringe has become the base and any attempt to cut out the tumor will kill the patient.

The one long term positive advantage that democrats once had, the aging out of conservatives and their replacement by much more liberal youth is now in serious jeopardy.
The dramatic rightward shift of young voters this cycle bodes ill for the future.
Combine that with Republican gains with minorities and Hispanics and you have a five alarm fire on left.

Premature for those on the right to equate the new support djt was able to garner and assume those groups are leaning R in future elections.

Exactly, Democrats left the moderates, the center, and the regular, normal people 😂.. also they try to tell everyone what to do and think, which people hate

Definitely not a certain trend yet; just pointing out that democrats ignore that data point at their peril.
But do realize this, very few people grown more liberal as they age. Almost every one of us here can probably look back and see a gradual but steady drift to the right over our lifetimes.

Denounce the marxist cultural revolution and centralized power in d.c. Remember they said pack the Supreme Court. The Venezuelan high court just upheld the election that most of the world denounced as fraudulent.
