Wayne Chism

It will tough for him. He is an undersized 4 and can't dribble well enough to be a 3.

He has a good skill set a could probably be the 8th or 9th guy off the bench for a team.

Chism in yo face! Wayne will go pro. Great post moves, can shoot the 3, defend, very athletic, physical... plus he dominates guys bigger than him frequently. A guy like Wayne could become a monster with some work. I see him as a cross between Antoine Walker and Josh Howard, potentially.

That all depends on Wayne....he has tremendous potential under the basket because he is so athletic....whenever he realizes hes not a point gaurd

either you are the most optimistic person ever, or your basketball judgment is awful. Wayne has potential, but you realize Antoine Walker and Josh Howard were 3's. Weezy's not a three. He's not anywhere near as good as that.

do what? He'll make an NBA roster, but don't get carried away. He a face up soft 4 man with limited athletic ability.

Chism is our best chance for an NBA player amoung our seniors.

probably. Tyler is about equal, but needs to get some old explosiveness back. Looks like something is hampering him. He doesn't blow by or over like he did as a soph.

Chism may be soft, but his size is not an issue.

agreed. His size is the lone issue that gets him a spot. If he's 6'7", no prayer.

Nobody's making him a true PF in the league and he absolutely is not a 3. He's a tweener whose size will cement him a spot and he'll make a nice reserve for someone.

Chism is 6'9, 245. My brothers have been next to him and say that he is that. The problem is that he isn't athletic enough to defend the four. His offensive game isn't that great. He isn't a smart player. Struggles with the double team.

I want to believe like you but can't. It will be really tough for him to make the jump (we need good NBA-ers for recruiting). He is nowhere near Josh Howard unless you meant JuWaun Howard (old school guy - if that is how he spells his name...).

He seems to have no dribbling ability and while his shooting has improved, it is probably not NBA ready. I'd say his inability to stay intense throughout the game is a problem as well. Recently he's been getting 5 or less rebounds a game. Gosh, I hope he does go pro but I don't know if it is possible.

I think the better question is will Tyler Smith go pro and if so at what position? The announcers were suggesting PG and I thought that was insane.

I remember his sophomore year my dad & I thought he would better at point than J.P. But he isn't athletic enough to play point in the NBA. He isn't a good enough ball-handler also.

his handle's solid and he's a very good passer, but he's not a decision maker and he'd get trounced on D.

That is true. I also would be concerned because he doesn't have a good enough shot for a PG. It seemed like last year he was really focused on shooting 3's (he took a lot). I can only remember him shooting 1 this year - I believe it was a miss and that could have something to do with it. I've been a little surprised how it seemed like last year we were "Tyler's team" and this year Tyler is playing more like a role player. Strange.....

Hmm I remember hearing those comments from Bruce Pearl about Tyler being a point in the NBA. There is no possible way for that happening. He is way to slow and has the same moves.

I think Tyler wants to show NBA teams he can be a role player that is unselfish. I have no doubts about unselfishness, but I think he wants to show other facets of his game. Scouts will think they can improve his shot for them. The problem is he has to prove he can shoot the mid-range jumper/three ball to get drafted in the first round.

Confused about his mid rage game because I heard all offseason that he was working on that. Why not show it? Sad because if that clicked then he truly becomes a nightmare to defend.

he had it as a sophomore in spades and has abandoned it since. I don't get it unless there is something physical going on with him. He might feel he can't explode over people any longer and get that shot off. Just surmising.

he's still tough to defend, but if he could ever learn the mid-range consistently (not even a three), he could put 22 points a game. He would be ridiculous.

he has now made himself easy to defend. He is heading to the bucket and most often he'll go right. The folks guarding him can just wait for the tilt-a-whirl to stop and block the shot. He was impossible to defend when he pulled up and drilled the 15 footer on people, a la Dale Ellis.

I disagree. He's a tough matchup. He can post up smaller defenders and drive past bigger defenders. He can still put up 20 when he wants.
