We are 3rd?

I get that #VolTwitter is relentless no matter what, but it’s a bit excessive how much whining I’ve seen online about us not being the unanimous #1 team on March 3rd. Only thing that should matter is where we end up at the end of the year. Rankings this early don’t mean anything.

I also saw one stupid account suggest this team is already better than last year’s squad. The only way that argument can be made is if this team wins a title as well. Otherwise, people need to cool their jets for a bit lol.

I tried to find it the other day and had a hell of a time finding college stats. So I just calculated it myself. Took 3 minutes with excel.

Here's the formula LOB% = (H+BB+HBP-R)/(H+BB+HBP-(1.4*HR))
Here's where I pulled the stats 2025 Southeastern Conference | Baseball-Reference.com

Here's all the SEC teams.
Tennessee Volunteers
53.2%
Kentucky Wildcats
53.4%
Alabama Crimson Tide
54.3%
LSU Tigers
55.8%
Auburn Tigers
56.0%
Oklahoma Sooners
56.2%
Missouri Tigers
58.2%
League Totals
58.7%
Florida Gators
58.9%
South Carolina Gamecocks
59.3%
Texas Longhorns
60.0%
Vanderbilt Commodores
60.4%
Arkansas Razorbacks
61.4%
Mississippi State Bulldogs
61.8%
Georgia Bulldogs
63.9%
Ole Miss Rebels
64.4%
Texas A&M Aggies
66.0%

Just so we're all on the same page, the LOB% you're using is used to determine the effectiveness of pitchers in avoiding runs, not missed scoring opportunities.

FYI Vols have 91 LOB so far.

Makes me sad that we can’t get this stuff like we can with pro ball or even college football/basketball.

When does college baseball get some love?

Excellent! I wondered about the x1.4 value. As a pitching stat, that makes a lot more sense.

Compared to everyone who also haven't played any important games?

Also are you crying about being ranked 3rd before even starting conference play? The baseball forum is getting as gross as football.
Are you crying about somebody crying ? That usually means you’re the biggest cry baby.

Fangraphs just added college data. So the answer to when college baseball can get this stuff funnily enough is yesterday
