So the Vols aren't going to a bowl game...

Neither are:

Penn St.
Ohio St.
Auburn
Miami (FL)
Arkansas

So let the country enjoy:

Utah St. vs Toledo
UCF vs Bowling Green
Arkansas St. Vs Central Michigan
No. Illinois vs Western Michigan
Kent St vs MTSU
La. Monroe vs Ball St.

We'll be back soon!

Its not just about not going to a bowl game. We could have used that bowl money for something useful. Like getting a top notch HC / DC!

Yep we're on the conference "dole" again this year, but we have contributed way more than we've collected through the years. Revenue sharing is one of the perks of membership in a powerful and wealthy conference.

Happy as can be that Fooley is gone. Wish we could have won out for a bowl, but glad we sent Fooley packin'!!!!

Don't be a douche. CDD did a lot to sustain our program for the next coach that can actually coach. Given the circumstances he was a good setup man for our next coach and is a VFL in spite of his on the field failures. CDD is a class act.

That is weird to see in print...however, I have watched Monroe all year...they are the real deal, imo

Bowl game brings in $$$$$ and Tennessee badly needs lots of $$$$ right now so I'd rather see UT getting the $$$$ and me being able to watch my Vols play another game.

VFL...GBO!!!

Recently according to the Republic and the NCAA many teams actually LOSE money playing in bowl games. Check out the costs schools incur.

UT will be back, and probably sooner than a lot of people think. I believe this hire will be one that will draw recruits into the fold. EJ Levenberry, a four star linebacker commit from Fla. St. has expressed an interest in Tn. He has offers from Fla, Georgia, Bama, Ohio St, and about every major program in the country. If the right HC can keep the current team intact, and with a top ten recruiting class, which I think is very possible, I could see the Vols back in contention in year one. This team is better than what we saw this year and the right hire will show that right out of the gate.

I'm not saying it is a good thing... Just thought about who else is sitting at home while listening to a discussion of bowl projections. Those are some pretty big names on the outside this year.

How bad does it feel after looking at that list of teams that are bowling?

Hmmmm... I'd say the Kent State - MTSU game should be fun to watch. At lease Tennessee has a representative playing in the postseason.

However, I wish the Vols were playing in one of the BCS bowls. At the same time, I believe, with the right coaching staff and the nucleus of talent that we currently have, we'll be bowling next year... and in the BCS hunt within three to four years.

Ohio St. is Unde-freaking-feated. Their situation is very different.

and the U is self imposed. Some power programs still on that list, but those two are unwarrented. In a an alternate universe, the NCG would be ND V Ohio Sucks.

Yuck.

The bowl money doesn't come to the school, it goes to the conference and is distributed evenly back to all 14 schools. The only extra money UT would get is costs to cover travel expenses.

The real "expense" is the extra practice time which could be beneficial if a new coach is hired in the next week and wanted to get started early. However I cannot think of a time when a new coach was hired before bowl season and did coach in the bowl, so it's probably a moot point.

bottom line.....Tennessee was horrible@!!!!!

Dude, all of us are aware of this. Doesn't make things better by posters bringing it up on a daily basis. Step back & take a deep breath & get some patience cause it's going to be awhile from here on out.
