We aren’t going to the playoff again. Enjoy baseball and softball for now

He has to adapt to the players he has. I think that's what happened last year and in 2023 with Joe. Hendon processed quickly and on another level. We still had a really good year last year and while 2023 was a step back it wasn't a bad season. The defense has steadily improved each year as well. I'm expecting this year to resemble 2023 unless whoever is QB just clicks.
I totally agree man and I loved last season just hate how it ended but they went on to win the ship. We have came a long damn way from where we were just still got some work to do and I’m just here for the ride. I think we know what a bad season is and heupel in my eyes hasn’t had one yet. So here’s to the future 🫡

I’m afraid this coming up football season could be a long one. By no means do I think we are bad but the Nico thing is gonna hurt us for sure. No way would we ever want to swap him for that UCLA/App State guy. I do think Nico’s family kinda runs the show but let’s not forget that the offense we were running last year wasn’t the typical Heupel that we know. Maybe he didn’t trust Nico and I mean we made the playoffs so not a terrible decision but we didn’t air that thing out like we are used to. That Oklahoma game for example had us all wondering why we are just playing not to lose when our defense basically won us the game. We took our foot off the gas pedal wayyy too much and I would rather us get out there and air it out. Back when we had Palmer, Jennings, Callaway it always amazed me we didn’t just give them a chance at a jump ball more because they more than not always came down with it. And you have the chance of a PI call. We now don’t have near as much talent but I think Matthews is that guy too so let’s see if we open it up. I’m scared our coach will just run and have them same little passes and screens. I’m thinking about 7 or 8 wins but when Faizon gets here it’s game on and we can get a natty. If he doesn’t watch this season and be like why am I going here
You're talking out of both sides of your mouth a little bit. In one breath it seems like you think we'll miss Nico, but in the next it sounds like you think our offense sucked with Nico.

People can complain about Heupel's decision to be conservative last year all they want. It was not as flashy as 2022, but it worked. We beat Alabama and Florida and made the playoffs. And remember.... Heupel didn't go ultra conservative until poor pass protection nearly cost us the game against Oklahoma. Fans and media love to criticize conservatism but Saban became the GOAT with a conservative style.

8-4 seems like a safe bet at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if this season is similar to the gap year with Joe under center in 2023. Winning at bama and uf will be tough for sure and UGA has just absolutely had our number. The bad news is Nico's departure because let's face it, he was going to be the guy. However, I am not of the opinion that our QB play is going to be complete trash either. Someone will emerge out of the talented guys we have. The good news is that the running game has been good every year since JH took over and I fully expect it to be dependable in 2025. The D line and rushing attack won us our games last year. I know we lost some depth and talent from the DL unit but thankfully we return a lot of proven players like Bailey, Hobbs, Moi, West, Eason, and Josephs. If feels like Bailey and Eason have been here for a decade. You also have to feel good about the younger highly touted D line prospects to mix in with the experienced vets. This is year five for JH and he has another good class assembled to bolster this roster. The wildcard for me is QB obviously along with WR production. Those were trouble spots in 2024 for the offense. Hopefully, those two units take a big step forward in the right direction allowing us to compete with the upper echelon once again.

Those are facts and if you think we have the talent we had last year then you are delusional. I’m just saying I would like our coach to get back to his offense because it’s fun to watch. I’m not actually scared or afraid you are just reaching and trying to start something. The season could be a long one if this qb doesn’t work out as well as the oline with a lot of new faces and a new rb as well. It’s not negative it’s just the truth. I’m riding no matter what.
Truly riveting stuff here. “If our entire offense sucks, the season could be a long one.”

Corner is good yes, oline is unproven and haven’t played together much. Potential is there but gotta see it out. Boo carter didn’t do much last year. Has the talent but nothing to hold your hat on. Rb downgrade, Matthew’s didn’t play because he wasn’t the best option plain and simple. And yes Nico didn’t produce a lot but all y’all were on his nuts when we got him and i personally would’ve liked to see what he could’ve became. But he is gone and good riddance to him. D line won’t be near as good as well as linebacker and safety also. Just facts buddy
Actually, that is not facts.

Yeah but you think we are going 10-2 right? I don’t think we suck by any means but we aren’t as good as last year and I’ll stick by that. So what still gonna watch. And the sec teams we beat are a little better than last year. I’m surprised you spelled riveting right though. Congrats

It is all just conjecture at this point based on how we think things will play out. Spitballing is fun, I get it. Who knows? What if the offense hums like it did in 2022 with a good defense instead of one with massive deficiencies like we had that year? Heupel has shown that he can adapt and win with what he has.

That's just dumb, Nico is far from irreplaceable. In fact, he is the reason we lost several games and was hardly the reason for making the playoffs. Much like the Braves, Tennessee won in spite of Nico not because of him. Of course UT will suffer some growing pains after losing the qb that the offense was tailored towards but that doesn't mean it can't be tailored to fit the new starter. We probably aren't going to the playoffs again but we probably weren't going with Nico either.

We will miss Nico, he was a top recruit for a reason and has the tools to be special. Still very young too and looked forward to seeing what he could be. But yeah he wasn’t that good last year and could’ve made us better but we still had the season we did. Sampson and our defense were the biggest part of our success. Y’all getting off topic. I enjoyed last season and didn’t say a thing about that

Nico had his struggles for sure last year and we won some games with a good running game and defense. His poor performance in the UF game comes to mind. However, he made some plays last year in the bama game that Gaston Moore couldn't have made. We don't win that game against the tide without him imo.

Most of the words in your post were dedicated to complaining about our offensive play style and you used last year's game against Oklahoma as an example.

Horse Hockey.

A few years ago, we had a great quarterback named Peyton Manning. Now, even though Peyton was a great player, I am sure he regrets to this day that he was unable to hold a national championship trophy over his head while millions of Vols fans celebrated.

However, what the Hell happened the year after Peyton was drafted by the Colts? His backup, Tee Martin? He does exactly that.

So don't hand out this mamby pamby, chicken little "the sky is falling", nonsense. Vols have plenty of talented guys, and if they knuckle down and work the way those guys from 98 did? Why the Hell not use their anger over Nico's and his Dad's BS greed to motivate them? Have a little faith, you wussy!

I think if we fall off this year, it will be more because our D and RB isn't at the same level as LY. It's a team sport, so if our D is close to LY that's the foundation, and JH rushing attack has been pretty consistently at top of SEC, so I think we'll be OK there. Having the QB work out for us I think will be just as much about WR and OL positions. We'll have a shot at a good season.

If Mathews wasn't good, they wouldn't have paid him to stay. There was an obvious drop off when Pili went down again, but we have recruited that spot well and still digging in the portal.

The FACTS you claim can be said about every team in the country in late April.

I’m done arguing with stupidity. Matthews is good and the best that we have now so duh we paid him. Have a good day dad

Yah, pick up a 5th year project like Hendon Hooker and watch us lose!

I can give you my number like a chick and if you are ever in the Texas area we could definitely meet up my friend. Y’all are kinda ridiculous starting **** over just a post but it is 2025
I'll pass.

I really was just curious about the "my guy" thing. I keep hearing it more and more and never from women (in the way you were using it). So I asked. You say it's a Texas thing. That's news to me. I've been to Texas many times and spent some time there. Don't recall hearing it down there, but it's been many years. I've started to hear it a lot lately. Just curious about the origin of those kinds of expressions and how they get started and become popular.

Probably more explanation than you were looking for.
