Given Richt's track record with Greene, maybe he can turn Joe T into a machine. This tells me he thinks they will compete for a championship this year, otherwise he would start Cox or Stafford to get them ready for next year.

I was in GA over the weekend and was impressed from things I was hearing about Barnes as well. You guys are starting to reload rather than rebuild.

I think the east comes down to UT and UGA. I don't think the Meyer spread will work this year or any other year. He won't get the "recruits" he needs before firemeyer.com is rewarded.

I think they are easily a 4 or 5 loss team this year.

See, this is something I reallllllllllllllllly dislike. I happen to agree Florida could lose 3 or 4 games (5 is tough), but saying "they are easily" that kind of team is ridiculous. They aren't EASILY going to lose 4 or 5 games. Period.

I just get frustrated when people make bold predictions, but then make it sound like its such an obvious situation.

I think they all knew that Richt was going to go with Joe T out of the gate, but I don't think most people believe that he will finish the year as the starter.

The coverage of this down here is pretty funny. You'd think they just announced a cure for cancer or something.

Notice the two words "I think" at the beginning of the statement. :thumbsup:

Bottom line is nobody knows for sure and everyone has an opinion. Don't get frustrated about it.

I agree, but when someone has the preface "I think," they probably should exclude a word like "easily"

Someone could have said Tennessee would easily lose six games last year and it would have sounded silly. Doesn't mean it might not be true.

But that's not my issue. I love the bold predictions, and I even said I think UF loses 3 or 4 (and said 5 would be tough). My issue isn't the prediction, but the means in which it was given.

EDIT: "Issue" is a poor word, because I truly don't care. It just seemed silly.

Have a UGA fan my office. Word is Joe T slow, inaccurate, and can't throw long. Other then that, he's a good QB. We'll see.

Joey T is a legacy guy. His father is an icon at UGA. Not exactly a Walker, Greene, Ward, etc. but the T family is one of those loved families. There are a lot of people who are only behind him for that reason.

I've heard a lot of mixed feelings on him being named. Some are saying it's like Shockley being put in and Greene taken out just because Shockley paid his dues. This line thinks Joey T has been there and paid his dues but is not the future and does not have the killer instinct and hunger the younger guys would.

The other line is that the young guns have not stepped up to take the ball and run. Joey T is the only experienced guy they have and has been in the system long enough to know it.

It's almost if they've had to settle. No one has been thrilled by the QBs' performances in the Spring and Fall pratices. Even this stable of incredible high school talent has not really lived up to the hype. I work with three big Alum Association members who say there is quiet grumbling over this and are not too thrilled. They defer to Richt who they say has not let them down yet but they worry that Richt had to settle on the best they had which they say is no where near the caliber they've had with Greene.

I post a thread on the latest qb situation at Arkansas and it the thread gets deleted from the Vol forum immediately. Yet this thread stays which is essentially the same subject matter. The latitude they give certain posters on here.

And his Grandfather was All SEC in the 1940s.

I think he'll do OK since UGA can lineup and run the ball if they have to. It remains to be seen though if Richt will be content to do that.
