Franklin was a miracle worker at Vandy. He's a suitable replacement for Butch, which is something that is inevitable.

That piece of crap would have no more business at Tennessee than Spurrier, Petrino, Urban Meyer or Muschamp. My gosh.

It's probably a good idea to wait until after bowl season for this type of talk. As much as Tennessee has struggled, if they were to draw another middle of the road Big 10 team in a Florida bowl game again, like say Minnesota or Iowa, I would expect us to come away looking like world beaters... for the third year in a row. I think that could probably be said for other SEC teams as well.

Bowl records are usually pretty split between Big 10- SEC in matchups. And while it's the only way available to us to make a judgment, I'm not sure it's really all that telling.

However, It's not like the SEC goes undefeated against the Big 10 every year. And even with the results....Tennessee blew out NW. Michigan blew out Florida. Georgia beat Penn State in an ugly game that really didn't show Georgia was vastly superior to Penn State.

I just remember a season like 2006 when Florida won the whole thing and a lot of folks thought the best and most talented team in the league was LSU who did not make the title game that year. And the argument had a lot of validity.

Someone has to fill the New Years six bowls, so I don't know what matchup you will get. However, I think the SEC has shown a whole lot of mediocre this season outside of Alabama.

Plus the Fiesta Bowl after the 91 season and the Citrus Bowl after the 93 season.

They have more wins than Tennessee and the same number of NCs...both are in the Top 10 for all-time bowl appearances as well.

Both programs are about equal. Somewhere in the 11-15 range.
