We have a classy Coach

Had we scored then, the dogs would have simply been called off earlier. The starters would have been pulled for the entire second half. You know, it is possible to win with class. Still dominate the other team, but depending on the situation do what you want. If you don't like someone seeing class in our head coach, then I feel for the hole in your soul.
People who use the word “class”…

“starters pulled the entire second half”? You watched a different game than me and I was there, it was still a game at halftime.

I wish to acknowledge what a class act Josh Heupel is.

Tennessee, at this point, will have realistic aspirations of reaching the playoffs this season and to assist this goal it may require him to "run up the score" on occasions. Well despite a very impressive 49-13 win on Saturday, he benched almost the whole first team when he could have easily broken the 60 point barrier and thus made an early "statement" to the college world.

But our coach understood that given what an horrendous time Virginia have endured this last year, a 60 point thrashing was the last thing they needed and the "pedal was no longer pushed to the metal".

Good luck Virginia for the rest of the season and thank you Josh for realizing that winning isn't everything.

I was there also. It was not a game at halftime. They were not going to score 21 pts on the starters.

I certainly agree that Coach Heupel is a class act, but I would prefer to play every blowout the way he did on Saturday, getting the first team out and giving much needed reps to the subs. I'm not a fan of running up the score anyway, and definitely not worth risking any stupid injuries, but getting our depth the added reps is the main bonus.

Yes, CH does have class! And I'm not a fan of running up the score up on any team, unless it's SC East! GO VOLS!

I agree that CJH is a class act; but you have to know when to stop and not push him too far. Something about which Shane Beamer will receive a full education in three weeks. It’s going to get ugly folks.

I think it probably had a lot to do with establishing more depth, but who knows really? Regardless, you are right. I have felt this is the highest character group of coaches we have had since I was old enough to comprehend what character is.

Y’all think what you’d like but only CJH knows.

Posts that make blanket assumptions, either positive or negative, are gonna get destroyed on here. Y’all should know by now.
Everyone knows that to be fact.

I'm glad we have a coach that doesn't throw his players under the bus after games or talks about having them executed (still can't believe Kelly said that).

Hi Tony, glad you are a member her on Volnation even though we didn’t extend you an invite.

If Heupel was showing class on Saturday, then I hope he shows no class at all when USCjr comes to town. If we had the ability I would hang 100 on them.

“Matt, it’s a cliche, ‘Oh he’s a player’s coach,'” Finebaum said. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen more of a player’s coach than Josh Heupel. I mean, he just relates to those guys. He’s so unconventional and, you know, a lot of young coaches are still connected to their past but he represents – it’s been 20 years, a little more than 20 years – but he could be like kind of the guy that showed up for college at 40. I mean, he could fit in that locker room as a player as well as the head coach.”

“Josh Heupel, this decade’s Van Wilder,” Berrie responded with a laugh, to which Finebaum agreed.
