Anyone know if Edwards has a red-shirt left. Could he still take a medical redshirt after playing 10 games?

Not sure if he has one or not, but I would venture to say CCM has to weigh whether another year of Edwards trumps a potential freshman for 2015, because essentially, that's whose scholarship he would be taking. We haven't seen enough as fans to know that.

Just looking ahead. After next year McRae and Golden will leave. If Maymon red-shirts this year, he will leave that year as well. If UT has the season next year everyone hopes for then it's a possibility that Hubbs and Stokes might leave early. Edwards would make 6 leaving. Under that scenario, I think a red-shirt senior beats any 6th recruit UT is going to find.

Just working through scenarios in my mind.

I don't know the redshirt rules, as far as what percentage of games or how late you can play whatever.

While I don't think he'll be redshirted, I do think he'd benefit from it.

Possibly given the recruiting history we have seen, but not if that freshman is a player on Hubbs or Stokes' level. I'm thinking beyond one season as well. Edwards would help to an unknown degree for one season, but is having him for one season worth losing an impact player for 2, 3, or possibly 4 seasons?

An interesting quandry

Pretty sure the rule is you can't play in more than 10% of a team's games to qualify for the hardship waiver (i.e medical redshirt). Edwards has played in 9 games, so unless we're playing 90 :shades:, he's over the limit there.
There's also the matter of having to be injured as well.

He may have been. He didn't look like he felt well, either from sickness or a result of having the black shoulder sling on for whatever reason.

He did struggle against Western Carolina as well too the game prior. Probably his worst two games of the season coming in back to back contests.

I knew there was some kind of limit for a medical red-shirt. Didn't realize it was only 10%. Oh well, it was just a random thought anyway.

Rotation going forward (without Maymon)?

PG- Golden 30/Lopez 10
SG- McBee 20/McRae 20
SF- Richardson 30/Reese 10
PF- Hall 20/Edwards 10/Reese 10
C- Stokes 30/Yemi 10

Would be my guess.

More minutes for McRae (not sure where they come from) and Yemi should just play until he gets 5 fouls (sadly, some games that could be 10 minutes).

Agree with everything except that McRae is gonna get close to 30mpg, and I'm not sure Reese gets quite 20mpg.

Because you don't bench a leader. You bench him during game but not during season. You don't bench Halladay, Verlander, or Kershaw after a couple inconsistent games and bring up a AAA pitcher in their stead because he had a great month.

Golden will be fine. A GREAT coach lets his leaders play through it but with a controlled leash.

Anyway. There's my dollars worth.

Really depends on Reese.
If he starts rebounding, which he did very well in HS, and shoots a consistent average, he'll get more and more of Kenny's minutes.
I'd like to know what he weighs now. Appeared that christopher has already added significant weight to his frame.
