I'm going to judge from your response that someone has told you this is the reason someone is not coming to UTK. it just seems to me like a convenient excuse for someone who was leaning elsewhere anyway. Now, if the parent is making the decision and the parent is overprotective, then maybe I can see it as a truly significant factor.

My personal assessment of blame:

1. Slow start. You cannot do this anymore. Too many of the great prospects commit early, even as juniors. Already way behind UGA for 2009.
2. The three regular season losses. All were nationally televised. Two were to bitter rivals against whom the Vols recruit head-to-head on for many prospects. All were ugly.
3. The coaches who left.
4. The coaches who should be gone but are still here (cough).
5. "Needs class" excuse/too deep at some skill positions to attract 5*s who want immediate playing time.
6. Off the field misbehavior after the season is over.

I dont see how we got dropped when harris said we were a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10

well, he did. he liked it but maybe his family didn't. he probably knew it just wasn't the place for him but still enjoyed the visit.

i just dont get it..y would he come out and say he not comin here over the other places 24 hours before he was going to announce..something going on..since rivals has no story on it and an article today just came out sayin he realy liked the trip and the source came from a bama newspaper i dont think were completly out of the running... he been so quiet about his recruiting process y all of a sudden would he come out and say tenn is no longer in the running... but we will c at 3 pm eastern time tomm

yh but he would also come out and say auburn n usc is no longer in it and im commiting to bama no ten is no longer in it..just hours before is coach said he really liked tenn and gav the visit a 12

Go and look on govolsxtra.com. Read "signing time for ut commits" It says Harris will sign for UT at 3.

it was a all alabama website or something i read it but reports cam back that denied that we were ever crossed oof but well c at 3 tomm

That makes me very concerned for the future of UAT football in their rivalry with Mississippi State. He's owned your asses two years running with recruiting classes a lot worse than that. What's going to happen if he actually starts getting a few players down there?

Just think what he might have done if you'd hired him instead of Shula five years ago. The Tuscaloser KKK chapter would have had a fit, though.

Get lost. I'm sure Saban will buy a few more recruits before lunch tomorrow. You might even get in another SEC title before your next probation.

Rivals article interviewed the Harris camp and they said he did not eliminate UT. He said he will be choosing between all 5 of the schools on his list. I think Alabama certainly has a leg up on everybody else on the list but it is at least encouraging that he has not actually dropped us.
