That is the type of size and speed and power we are going to have to recruit on a consistent basis. Winning the East outright depends on it. That is irrefutable. Georgia is the new Alabama. You need elite qb play and legit talent everywhere across the board. Or you need a miracle.
We’ll be there in no time with our double-digit recruiting class rankings. UT will never out Georgia Georgia

Yup, gotta keep building. Kirby didn’t build Georgia overnight or in two years.

Yea because obviously this should be an immediate turn around….
We can’t even break into the top 10 in recruiting. They’ve been 1-4 for about ten years. Not sure how you recruit against a team that blows you out every year and win that battle. There also wasn’t a huge coaching differential so outscheming isn’t an option. Georgia is about to go on a decade long Bama run and we’ll win when they get tired of winning like Bama did this year.

Ughhhh ... sorry to tell you this but YES HE DID. Kirby took Georgia to the National Championship game in his second year as head coach. He lost to Alabama when Tua-whatever came off the bench to rally Alabama.

Coaching matters. Who recruits the Jimmy’s and Joe’s?
True but its easier to implement scheme and strategy no matter your roster for better play. There is a ceiling though. When you have the best roster it makes coaching much easier. Heupel hasn't had the time. We are 1.5 years into his rebuild. Kirby Smart has had several years.

Kirby was given the keys to a Ferrari. Heupel was given a restoration project that's still a work in progress.

Yep. And seeing it only highlights and confirms what you just posted:

With top 3 recruiting classes every year - Kirby has a lot more talent to work with

When the margin for error is thin you can make every mistake in the book. Totally embarrassed on offense. And the defense gave up untimely big plays to unknown Georgia receivers. Don't catch a punt that flipped the field in the worst possible way. Then the rain comes while we look like garbage as Georgia melted the clock.

Personally i'll be happy in the Future for Tennessee to win 9-10 games yearly with an 11-12 win season every now and then.

So essentially we need to start recruiting in the top 5 every year to have a shot against UGA? That should be easy enough 🙄🙄🙄

Where are we on that list? Because we have beat 3 teams on that list, and Auburn and A&M are trash.

We need more talent and depth yes. But we have definitely closed the coaching "gap." We have our guy. Now we just need more solid recruiting classes that will be developed.

I took a little flak this week for worrying about our #14 recruiting class on the recruiting thread.

We are going to have to step up recruiting to compete with Georgia.

However, even with this loss, we are still 11-1. Far better than our 5-7 or 7-5 type teams we have had in the past. Very happy with season, coaches, and players.

Divisions are going away when Texas and Oklahoma come in. We will likely only play Georgia every other year instead of every year.
