Offense struggled against a top flight defense with corners that hit the receivers coming off the line, with the strength and speed to cover and close, their best defensive player did not even play, the left side of our offensive line was embarrassing with the constant false starts, running up the middle was not successful and could have been abandoned by the second quarter, not a very good day for the explosive offense, those things happen
The defense struggled with the deep ball in the first half, open field tackling in a one on one setting and covering on the blitz packages, defening the slower but bigger tight ends, although did improve in the second half, Georgia has set the framework for what a top tier SEC defense should look and play like, whether or not Heupel is cognizant of the type of defense it will take to play year in and year out with Georgia, Florida and Alabama will remain to be see, he had very little to work with after the Cornbread meltdown departures but we cannot expect to boatrace the top tier SEC teams, going to have to build a successful defensive alignment,
The talent, scheme and competitive gap between Georgia and Tennessee is comparable to the same gap between Tennessee and Missouri/South Carolina, but we are in a much better place now than at any point since 2001, still controlling our own destiny for a run at the Sugar Bowl, might back in to the number 4 playoff spot if the undefeated teams and Alabama take a loss, just have to continue to play smart and win.
