It's a combination. It's denial followed by taking ownership.Dont see it as a excuse, he's taking ownership of it, shoulda made the kick.
They did choke as a team but he club footed that kick, not even close to a decent kickIt's a combination. It's denial followed by taking ownership.
The real problem is that OSU played a little scared on their last 2 offensive snaps and left him with a 50 yard FG attempt after completely falling apart on defense. It was a team choke.
I didn't realize until later that he had never hit one beyond 50. How in the world was OSU not more aggressive on their last 2 plays before the attempt to get him an extra 10 yards?? The run call on the 2nd to last play is nuts when you consider that they really weren't in his range yet.50 yard field goals are never a gimme. Especially when you were 0-4 lifetime before you tried that one!

If there was no chance he could make it I doubt they put him out there, you go for a hail mary or some last ditch effort not put in a kicker you know cant make the kick.I hit a 3 wood 225-240 yds. When I try to hit it 250+, I shank it. He was clearly outside his range, he knew it and tried to hit it more than he was capable. The coach choked.
