First of all im not trying to discredit anyone.. Dooley is a good person and Im sure Hart is also. However, I want the best for our UT FB program. Its obvious it will take a few years to rebuild to competetive stature. There is a hugh difference in a persons building his carrier and a person building his family.. And if the coach we hire is a person just adding to or just using UT for a stepping stone or a good place to retire.... the vols will be just as usual.. But if we get another Majors who loved FB and UT and made UT into a SEC championship contender.. Then in place was another UT player who loved ut so much he today will not coach anywhere else. Fulmer kept UT not only where Majors took UT but win a NC. Why these men loved UT and knew football. Fulmer had never head coached a college team before.

We need a winner.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about that. Yes, I agree it would be good to have a winner.

I also think we need a Tennessee man to take over. I just don't think one is out there right now.

Exactly! A Tennessee man would be great, but we can still win with the right crack from wherever.

One thing that has changed over the years....you don't see many of the top tier coaches at the school they played for

Not defending nor advocating Coach Fulmer, but... really? THAT is your sole reason for dismissing him out of hand? But I'll raise you one National Championship to counter your Wyoming.

Not my sole reason. I appreciate the good that he did for us and will never forget our National title. I was there. However, 2 of last 4 seasons losing records, #35 ranked recruiting classes, etc. It was time for him to go.

Based on?

Just because I am not an old fart doesn't mean that I don't have football knowledge.

Fulmer was fired. He will not coach at UT again. Get your panties out of a wad.

So this is how you treat your elders? My comprehension is lacking, an old fart.

Firing CPF was the most incredibly stupid idea in the history of Tennessee sports.

And I do not wear panties.

I agree, but your citation of Wyoming was pretty lame... sorry.

and speaking of Coach Phil Fulmer.....152-52.

exacty he had a 74% win average and won the sec 6 or 7 times.. Im not saying hire him back but I am saying we need his style and home town boy ego to be a winner. And if they hire him Im ok with that. Fisher and all of these other guys will only come here if the money is right.. It all about money to those guys.

So you assume that he would have won another SEC championship with #35 ranked recruiting classes and walk-ons on the OL?

Fulmer made some terrific hires as well
