Yes, while that blown call was huge, and changed the way the outcome could have possibly went, you can't put it all on that one call. When you shoot 28% and attempt 34 3's in one game, there were plenty of other chances.

Yeap. Nobody wanted to penetrate. They settled way too much. We played like we deserved to lose, no doubt about it. But with 14 seconds left we were only down 2 and should have had the ball. Anybody knows ANYTHING can happen in that situation.

Sure there were. Same principle as the Music City Bowl applies. We screwed up and deserved to lose, but ultimately a godawful call decided the game.

Bad gameplan and lack of adjusting on the offensive and defensive ends tonight.

They outplayed us and were more aggressive. I still think playing yesterday helped them and not playing hindered us.

you CAN put it all on that one call. I understand your rationality, saying that we just didn't play well regardless and that it shouldn't have came down to that individual call, BUT IT ****ING DID. So, as being apart of the reality of the situation, you CAN put it all on that one call.

**** the refs. THAT WAS RIDICULIOUS

They needed to pound the ball. They didn't. I hate it for Tennessee, but the guys should be proud for leaving it all out on the court.

Ols Miss's zone was strong...not much room to operate inside....so, jack it up and hope for the hot hand.

Exactly. We shoot better, penetrate more, whatever- we win by eight in regulation. But if that call is made correctly, we STILL have a legit shot to win, no matter how crappily we played up to that point.

UT didn't play well, but that doesn't matter. They played well enough to be in the game and were down 2 points and they were robbed of a possession in overtime. I can't say they would of made the shot and tied or went ahead in the game but with the right call they would of had a chance. Whether we deserved to win or not doesn't matter, we deserved to have a shot and not have it taken away by a bad call.

If they shoot even 30% our guys pull that game out. Yes, that call was horrible and changed the outcome there, but shooting 28% is even worse.

I've never said this all season, but Martin was out coached tonight. Martin should have went to a zone in second half. They killed us in the paint, and it was pick and rolls mostly. Instead, we stay in man and get beat over and over again. Also, like you said way to many threes. Piss poor execution on offense, and IMHO piss poor planning on Martin's part on designing plays to penetrate the strong zone. All that with a little piss poor clock management and 30,000 turnovers and that spelled disaster for us. Teams step up in SEC tourney. Ole Miss steeped it up.They played well, and hit FT's when needed. In OT, they played flawless.

While I've stated that the game hinged on that blown call. We get the posession and we COULD have tied or went up 1 and completely changed the momentum.

Regardless, 28% shooting is in credit to Ole Miss. Thats some seriously physical defense...

28% is horrible and we didn't deserve the win but if that call would of went the other way and UT ended up winning, none of us fans would of cared what percentage UT shot from the field. When it's a dogfight and every possession matters it doesn't matter what team is shooting better. I just can't understand how that call was missed, reguardless of how bad UT played that call effected a possession in a game where every possession counted.

Good season by the team though. I didn't expect them to be as good as they were so I can't complain. Looking forward to next year.

You CAN'T put it all on that 1 call; that's making the assumption that UT would have scored right there, and there's no guarantee they would have.

Even if UT had scored, a 2 would have only tied it while a 3 would have given UT a 1-point lead, with OM getting the ball back. There's no way to say what the final outcome would have been either way, right call or wrong call.

Yes, the call was terrible, and it had the POTENTIAL to change the outcome of the game, but certainly didn't cause UT to lose... 28% from the field did that, along with launching 34 3's, like the OP said.

UF is a 3-point shooting team, and we didn't even take that many today (10-30).

It's frustrating when you rack up that many fouls on your opposition EARLY and still can't get them in enough foul trouble to make a major difference.
Not being able to "take it inside" is the difference.

We just couldn't seem to find the high post vs the zone....too many ball screens IMHO

Ole Miss blocked the post from coming up for a high low. Martin tried a motion flex to slash a guard in middle but middle man in zone swarmed him. Our best bet was to penetrate the top of the key. Have the two other guards dive to sides of paint and try to make the front two men collapse on the penetrating player. Ya do this and you are playing 4 on 3 basketball every time. Great spacing is key to breaking zones. Ya do this and you can beat a 2-3, along with hitting some shots.

Good post. I agree. I was surprised we did not see it. I wish we had players that realize there are other shots out there besides 3's and lay-ups. It really is OK to take that 8-12' jumper, especially if you will jump straight up and not lean in against shot blockers (McRae are you listening for next season?).

UT wasted the last 5 minutes of the game trying to shoot 3's instead of trying to get fouls on the inside. Ole Miss had a couple of bigs with 4 fouls and we just wanted 3's. We were very lucky to make it to OT.

That's what it looked like from my point of view too. I don't remember them pounding it inside much though.
