Farm foreman: Welcome amigo. Just in time to pick my beans for minimum wage. I was afraid I was going to have to pay citizens 20 bucks an hour If I could even find any willing to do field work.

Construction boss: Welcome amigos. Just in time to break ground on on a new motel. I was going to have to pay Americans full wages.

Restaurant manager: Welcome amigo. You may bus my tables for minimum wage. I couldn't find a citizen willing to do it for what I offer.

Hotel Housekeeping manager: Welcome amigas. We need room maids and cleaning staff. Great! I can start you at minimum wage.

Factory owner to HR boss: I don't care. Get whoever you can. We have orders to fill. Stay within budget.

Who's going to pick our vegetables? Who's going to bus our tables? Who's going to clean our rooms? Who's going to build our homes? We need immigration. Americans won't do these jobs. Having said this we need legal, documented immigration.

Read my other posts above. I agree 100%. To stop it we're going to have to fine and if necessary jail the people hiring them illegally. We are going to have to have some kind of program that really works. If we keep hiring illegals they will find a way to get here wall or not.

I agree with what you posted there with the exception of one thing, employers, at least in the present, aren't hiring them because it's cheap labor, it's because it's the only labor. As an employer that needs labor, I can't find anyone. I have been avoiding Hispanic labor for the simple fact I don't speak a lick of Spanish. I'm changing that stance now as I'm going to specifically target Hispanics. It will be documented workers though.

Here's the problem with your stance, you can't have legal immigration with open borders. Without a barrier, you have open borders. Many do come here for the work but many come here for the freebies. You can attempt to take away the motivation for those coming for work by severely punishing the people who hire them but unless we cut off social services for illegal aliens you then you will still have the motivation for those that don't want the work.

It's the same as drugs. We haven't been successful because as long as the demand is there someone will find a way to supply it.

To stop the flow we are going to have to stop the demand. We're blaming Mexico for the problem that we are creating. A wall isn't going to stop people or drugs.

Undocumented immigrants do not qualify for welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, and most other public benefits. Most of these programs require proof of legal immigration status and under the 1996 welfare law (see below), even legal immigrants cannot receive these benefits until they have been in the United States for more than five years. Plus they pay taxes and pay into Social Security.

They do use the ERs mainly because the people who hire them don't supply healthcare and they are working poor. Same as so many low income Americans.

I don't know how many people you hire but if you need large numbers it's likely you won't be able to find enough documented aliens to fill your needs.

I took time to read this law a year or two ago. If illegals are receiving benefits someone is not following the law.

We might could implement a national photo identification card that is as hard to forge as a 100 dollar bill. It could be issued to legal immigrants and temporary workers with an expiration date and color coded for status. The card could be required when applying for a job, benefits, drivers license or even voting. Without it you don't get hired and you don't vote. If it's done right should help end any voter fraud. You pay for the card yourself to offset costs just like you pay for your DL.

When they cross and are caught they are immediately provided food, housing, clothing, medical care and education for their children.

If you're talking about detainment centers for asylum seekers well, we know what a paradise that is.

I am. The minute they step foot on American soil they cost US tax payers money. Regardless of the conditions or how comfortable they are. It might be terrible for you and I but compared to where many come from it's Club Med.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 1: The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

Too bad, but Congress has the say over imposing taxes. While it may be a better idea, how likely is it that Congress is going to do anything regarding immigration and would imposing taxes on those "poor illegal immigrants" be anything the Democrats would even consider?

Come on, man.
