Wearing down...

I want to believe that and hope for the best. I will say that if they really are wearing down then the games will be a struggle from here on out. All the preparation and hype and inspiration in the world can't overcome exhaustion.
Let's hope they were just flat this week and that we can bounce back!

Nice to see another Vols fan close by me :hi:

Yes every problem should be fixed within 8 games. We didn't get this bad in 1 or even 3 seasons. My God if you really expected CBJ to fix UTs woes this quickly then no offense but you're an idiot. It's going to take more than a season or 2 to fix what Kiffin and Dooley screwed up. Please go root for another team. You obviously are not mature enough to handle a team that is rebuilding.

I will root for whoever I want so you can GTFO with your "polite" suggestion. And you are in idiot if you think that everyone who does not blindly chant CBJ gets it every five minutes should not be a Vol fan.

They are a different team at home, simple as that. They will play well against Auburn and everybody will forgive them. Just wait.

I'm as disappointed in what I saw tonight as anyone with the poor tackling and the seemingly "uninspired" play.
I wonder how much of that is a result of our lack of depth in that each individual player has played more downs than most other teams players. I have no idea if that's true and I tried looking it up but can't find anything on it.
I'm realistic and know it's extremely difficult to play above our talent level although we did against Georgia and then again against South Carolina but with the lack of depth I can't expect them to play at that level every game.
I'm wondering if what we are seeing is the higher amount of plays as the end of the schedule draws near and a brutally physical schedule catching up to our lack of depth and very young roster.
I find it hard to believe that this team is quitting like others have said.
Man, have you not looked at the schedule we have just run through. Name me a football team that has had the lack of a winning season, leadership, coaching and support that would have done better. Time to come out of the Twilight Zone and step into the real world.

I do think that our schedule has had a lot to do with it. Having no depth, and playing this tough of a schedule has got to be wearing them down.

I'm wondering if you misunderstood my post somehow. I am supporting the same theory you are.

People who berate CBJ after his eight game with barely any depth, a lot of underclass men and trying to rebuild the absolute train wreck caused by former idiot coaches should not be a Vol fan. Cry all you want but like I said, it's obvious you know noting about the word "rebuilding."

former idiot coaches

Those idiot coaches had even less depth in their year 0 but still never scored as little as 3 points in a game. Also, since you hate them that much according to your own "logic" you were not a Vol fan during last 3 years (you must have been pulling for them to lose or if you criticized them you were not a fan, right)?

In those years we had G. Jones, D. Moore, L. Stocker, M. Rivera, J. Hunter, D. Rogers, A. Rodgers, Q. Hancock, C. Patterson- all of whom are playing pro ball at some level.

This year we have a brilliant, but young raw talent in North, who has the potential to be a superstar, but is still a freshman. A talented tiny speedster in Howard, and a raw prospect in Croom.

We also had a gunslinger who would put points up on the board at QB.

Right now, we have nowhere near that much ability. Are we talented on offense? Definitely, but we are nowhere near that level right now.

I have been a dire hard Vol fan since I was 10 years old, thats 27 years. Also seeing you type that first sentence shows what you actually know about UT football. I will let someone else try and show you the error of your ways because I am done.

I will respond to the rest of your pathetic response. Yes I hated Kiffin and Dooley for what they did to this once great program. Did you ever watch UT before 2008? Because it seems like you haven't. We used to be a powerhouse program that contended for divisional titles and got great recruits. Kiffin cheated when he got here and started the downward spiral when he bolted to USC in the middle of the night. I guess that was fine by you. Dooley came in with a lot more talent than we have now, regardless of what you think. He ignored in state recruits, failed to properly coach up his players and hired some good assistants that made him look better than what he was.

So did I hate those coaches for what they did? Absolutely 100% I did. If your a person who did not have a least a little bit of hate towards Kiffin and Dooley for what they did then you were not a fan. If a person could just stand idly by and not get angry because of what those idiots did then you have no passion about your team.

Before the season, we were hoping to survive through Alabama, then see the schedule lighten. Instead, Mizzou and Auburn have surprised most with top 10 rankings. That's a BRUTAL stretch of consecutive tough teams, and inserting a new QB with a slightly different offensive mentality, on the road, didn't help.

I think we will play rejuvenated football back at home this weekend.

Bama beats up every team they play. That said, it looked like the O line phoned it in last Saturday in what could have been a possible win. Very discouraging for fans who still are within a hundred miles of reality- Note - this does not apply to 80% of people on this site. They are so used to losing , it is comfortable to them now. If we show up, they are satisfied and anyone who says things , which are true, but negative is a lowlife moron in their opinions. They are convinced that they can make the team better by pretending it is so.

You make a good point and you may be right. Also, they are human and getting stomped every other week is not likely to make one confident in future outings. 6-6 is a good year for us, with all the problems. I"d say we have about a 60-40 chance to get there.

1. I have been Vols fan since middle 1980's when I was a student/athlete (varsity scholarship - I can never repay UT for what it did for me). Needless to say I have seen even more great UT teams than you since I'm older. I have also personally met some of the great players who played for UT (including Reggie White - ever heard of him?)

2. I have 2 degrees from UT (including graduate)

3. I don't have any hate or disrespect for ANY coaches who ever coached at UT. Even Kiffin tried his best when he was here and I think if USC (his dream job in his home state) did not come calling I think he would have stayed and been successful.

4. I have a huge amount of respect for Dooley and what he did in 3 years here - his lack of success was not for lack of trying and he did build one of the best offenses in the country when he was here (and I enjoy watching some of those great players that played for him on Sundays).

5. Nobody will tell me what it means to be a Vols fan - I get to decide how I feel about that for myself (and I know my heart is in the right place).

6. You do whatever suits you but I suggest you should mind your own business and stop making ridiculous assumptions about others just because they happen to not agree with you (or you will continue to look silly doing so).

#4. Dooley was an absolute moron. He had no business being a head coach. He also succeeded in ruining relationships with a lot of high school coaches. Our top talent was going elsewhere. He got a couple good players here, but couldn't do anything with them. Under his watch we lost to Kentucky, who started a WR at QB with no SEC experience. He completely mismanaged time against Mizzou last year and cost us that ballgame.

I have seen no evidence of them quitting. Getting tired, yes. Out ran, yes. Out experienced, yes. This year has been an incredible grind. We are playing some of the best teams in the country this year. Even the games that we can win going forward are not gimmies. Vanderbilt will be a battle. Kentucky will be playing for pride. I don't expect us to beat Auburn. I do expect Mr. Dobbs to get better. With the off week, I expect us to battle Vanderbilt and win. Mr. Dobbs will get better. I expect him to look pretty good against Kentucky and we will win. I believe that getting to 6 and 6 this year will be an overachievement for this team. Next year will be better. Count on it!
