What kind of impact do you guys think the weather in KTOWN will have on the Cal players? I think the humidity will hurt them quite a bit.

Sunny
Brilliant sunshine. Winds from the ESE at 8 mph.
High: 80 °F Realfeel®: 78 °F

looks like the weather will start to be cooler the beginning of next week

I also think because they are coming from the west to the east time zone it will bother them. Combine the 2 factors and I think you can see why UT is giving 2 pts.

It was actually quite nice here many evenings for the past two weeks. I'm going out on a limb and saying that if we're counting on the weather to win this one for us, we're in trouble.

I don't think the weather will WIN it for us. But I think it will be a factor. I know at most opening games I usually got hot. Like I said when a team goes from the West Coast to East time it has an effect as well.

I was at the Wyoming game which had the same time for the kickoff, which was in nashville, and it was very hot.

Right on, but two points:

One, it will be an evening game not a nooner like the UAB sweat-bath last year. Two, being later in the day makes it less painful for the cross-country trip. I mean, they could keep nearly the same schedule "time-wise" and sleep in, still having plenty of time to prepare on game day. I'm not sure if this ever happens or not, anybody else know?

Forget the weather, I'm more concerned about the impact of our specail teams, offensive line , and linebackers will have on them.

Kudos! While I hope that Knoxville sees a serious heat wave weekend after next...I doubt it. And...i'm not to optimistic about the time change as well. I will be hopeful that the weather will play into our hands and I am drooling over our defense after watching the scrimmage vids. (ok..maybe not drooling....but I hope to be there by the 2nd!!) :)

Even if it is a bit cooler by Knoxville/ East Coast standards it will still be something that the Cal guys aren't used to. While it may seem mild to us its still going to be hotter and muggier than the west coast guys are used to. Will it have a major affect... probably not but throw in the weather (hotter the better) and 100K+ screaming fans and see what they do.

I recall seeing something posted on here with regards to Tedford stating that they are going to try and stay on a west coast schedule by going to bed at their normal times (west coast) and getting up the same since its a later game. We'll see what happens, but overall I think it will play to us slightly.

I just heard on Fox news out of Nashville that Temperatures will be back in the 90's with high humidity for the first few days in September.
That could be good for UT. If it is hot and humid and we can run the football successfully throughout the game we can wear them down by the fourth quarter and have a good shot at winning the game.

I wouldn't count on the weather being a huge factor. Pac10 guys play in the most diverse climates of any conference. They play in the heat of southern California and Arizona as well as blizzards at WSU.

It could be a minor factor but I wouldn't rely on it.

UT being favored might just go back to something that isn't glamorous enough for commentators et al... Cal is a good team but their record last year proved no more about them being better than UT than UT's did them being better than Cal. UT lost 6 games to a schedule that featured 8 winning teams and 5 teams that played in January Bowls- two of them being in the 4 BCS games. The only team that beat them but didn't make a bowl was Vandy after the wheels had fallen off completely.

Cal lost 4 games to a schedule with only 3 winning teams and only one team worthy of playing in January. UCLA played in the Sun Bowl while Oregon played in the Holiday Bowl... neither as prestigious as the Peach Bowl we used to be embarassed by. In their own bowl game, a pathetic 6-6 BYU team gave them all they could handle before falling to Cal 35-28.

The Weather Channel 10 day forecast calls for partly cloudy with a high of 86 and 71% humidity with winds from the east at 4 mph.

I was just looking at a Tropical Depression that is now entering the Carribean and thinking the same thing.

I dunno about these 80 and 90 degree temperatures for the game... it's gonna be a cool 72 or 73 and overcast from my vantage point.

Are you serioulsy trying to predict the weather in TN from 8 days out? There is no way of knowing how it will be. My only prediction for the Bears is pain.
