Are you serioulsy trying to predict the weather in TN from 8 days out? There is no way of knowing how it will be. My only prediction for the Bears is pain.

They have this neat thing called Meteorology . . .

What kind of impact do you guys think the weather in KTOWN will have on the Cal players? I think the humidity will hurt them quite a bit.
As of last week, the humidity was bad in Cali as well.My sis and nephew were out here from Claremont.I know it's unusual but that's what they said.

Yeah and it varies from mile to mile in East TN, especially from 8 days out. I have wathced it pour down over Karns and Bearden and not a drop at my condo downtown. The weather here is not as cut and clear as other places in the country. Hell, as for the true science of meterology-Margie Eison used to be a "meterologist" and she was lit up have the time.

No weather thread is complete without a Margie Ison reference.

Eh, I don't put much stock into the time change and stuff.

Humidity might be a factor...but the better team will win, most likely.

Hopefully, that is UT.

The best gambler I know (and he is very good) puts more stock into that than you might think. West Coast teams coming east have a much harder time than East going west. He never takes a West Coast team that has to come more than half way across the nation.

Last year he called the ND USC game. I thought he was nuts. I guess that's why I don't gamble and he carries a very good roll.

I am actually beginning to be a bit concerned by Tropical Storm Ernesto..which will soon be Hurricane Ernesto most likely. The track looks like it will be hitting around LA/MS .... which could mean it will either swing up through west TN ... or if a front pushes it just a little...through Knoxville. I could certainly do without torrential downpours on game day. Of course, that is really a small concern compared to the weather the Gulf region had to deal with last year...which I don't mean to make light of. But still, if it does continue it's track...i have my fingers crossed that the weakened system will move through WEST TN!!

Ummmm, just because it isn't hot and humid in Berkeley doesn't mean there are not surrounding areas that are hot and humid. Tedford has took Cal to some of these off campus sites to practice and said when he they did practice on campus that he had the field wet down so that they would have humidity. They also play on a rubbery surface so there is alot more heat coming off of it when it is hot.

I wouldn't count on the sound being a huge factor either since they have been simulating that in practice with enough sound that they can't hear themselves speak. Our boys will just have to want it more and execute.

Fulmer pulled the team indoors yesterday because it was too hot and humid. In doing so,imo, he lost an oppritunity to build upon an advantage that we could very possibily have over Cal. Cal can not simulate the conditions we have in terms of weather in the Bay Area. We should take every oppritunity to build our teams resistance to the heat by PLAYING IN IT. I'm not sure the staff understands this.

What do you mean they can't simulate the weather conditions? They have areas within 1 hour from Berkeley that have near 100 degree temperature and high humidity.

I agree that the better team will probably win. But I agree with VolBeef that the time change will also have an effect. It does so even in the pros. Bookies take that into account. So with the home field and the time change and the line being UT -2. That tells me that they think Cal is around a TD better.

Something to think about is the track for this hurricane that is headed towards the Gulf. By Thursday, it is shown to be near Bama/ Fla panhandle. That could come into play by Saturday in Knoxville.

Ooops, sorry about the repeat post about the hurricane. Did not see it before I blurted out mine.

I'm actually a lot more encouraged by the track than I was a few days ago. It looks like a front/system is going to be "steering" the Hurricane to the east ... if it follows the current track, I think that we would see less rain than what we would have seen with the previous track. The tropical remnants are forecast to be at the GA/FL/AL borders at about Friday AM...which means that by Saturday PM..the system would likely be inland enough to give us rain if the track changes some. But right now, it loos like it will slide off through SC and off the coast of NC..I hope. We certainly need to hope that it doesn't stall over SC..which could mean a fair amount of rain for us for an extended period of time. I would think that the Bermuda High would surely steer it off the coast though by the time it gets that far. OK...this was a dorky post..I'm stopping now. :whistling: Good luck to all those preparing for the landfall..hope that it proves to be a mild one for you.
