Week 1 SEC Betting Lines

The 52u means you can bet that they will score a combined total of under or over 52 points. The -7 and -6 1/2 is the spread. Im really not sure what the -10 is.

Believe or not, but the winner pays the juice in a Vegas sportsbook.

For instance, if I place a $100 wager on UT to cover and UT wins 31-13 my payout is $190.

Whereas the guy behind me put his $100 on USU, he's only out his $100.

So the sportsbook collected $200 on this game and paid out $190 leaving them a $10 profit. That's why they want even money placed on both sides. It gives them a 5% profit.

No way alasalami is winning that big over a spread offense powerhouse.

Auburn will have it's hands full with ARKY, they are built to stop the hurry up.

A friend wants to have a preseason $1000 bet on Vandy vs UT straight up. How many of you would say without a doubt you would take the bet knowing there is a possibility you could lose a $1000?

I'd take it if I had it to spend. I'd risk 1,000 dollars of savings on that though.

UT -6.5 over USU
S Carolina -11 over aTm
Ole Miss -9 over Boise St.
Vandy -16.5 over Temple
Bama -27 over WVU
Auburn -21 over Arkansas
UGA -8.5 over Clemson
UF -35 over Idaho
Miss St. -29.5 over Southern Miss
LSU -5 over Wisconsin

Odds posted on Vegas Insider.

I would put $500 on the Vols given that spread...if only I was in Vegas...

Yeah, because Tennessee and Alabama are on the same level? Okkkkkkkk right

On one hand Vol fans talk about how UT is a top 10 all-time program and with the other make statements such as the quoted above.

Who should Bama schedule? The Broncos or Patriots?

That's what Boca said. I usually see like -180 or something, -10 looked strange lol.

The -180 number you see refers to the money line which is just a straight up bet.

For instance take the South Carolina vs. aTm game. The money line reads like this:

aTm +350
USC -425

That means if you bet $100 on aTm winning the game you'll win $350.

Conversly, you would have to wager $425 on South Carolina to win the game to win $100.

There are no point spreads involved in the money line. Just pick the winner. Thus the disparity in the amounts needed to wager.

Southern Miss +29 is the safest bet on there.

I believe the opposite on this game. Southern Miss has lost 23 out of their last 24 games. Last year alone they lost by 41 to Nebraska, 21 to an awful Arkansas, 53 to Boise, 41 to East Carolina, 41 to North Texas, 48 to Marshall, 23 to La Tech, 34 to FAU, 21 to MTSU and going into Miss St against Prescott who had a top 5 QBR rating last season. Miss St wins by more than 40.

I agree with you. I don't know if it will be by 40 but Southern Miss sucks

When Bama scheduled WVU: Immediately after Mountaineers won their conference and managed a 40 point win in a BCS bowl.

When UT scheduled WVU: Immediately after Mountaineers finished tied for 7th in their conference with a 4-8 record, including a loss to 3-9 Kansas.

Yep, keep telling your self that, that was a completely different team. A team could be good one year and bad the other. You have look at it within a 5 year time span.

I have no problem who Alabama schedule's, but don't come on here saying you play a hard OC. Why not schedule Oregon, Oklahoma, Michigan St., Ohio St., Clemson, FSU, USC, Cal...........I could keep going.

But naw keep scheduling these mid major programs or a bad major one.

It was a dumb comment. There is nothing wrong with scheduling WVU for your OOC. SEC schedules are tough enough, scheduling any major conference foe is respectable.

Not to be a homer cuz I'm a student at State, I agree 1000%. I believe this game is by far the safest bet. Second being USU-UT. Carolina-AM and UGA-Clemson are games I would stay away from.
