I saw a drunk middle aged man walking on the concourse - I hope he was drunk anyway or he was just an ass.- yelling up at the IU fans on Saturday night. That was ridiculous.

I had two young boys wearing IU setting next to me before the game, they were in wrong section. And we had a great conversation before the correct seatholders arrived back. There was no sense being obnoxious to IU fans. Sure they're Big10 but they're not "really" Big10 like Ohio State people. I enjoyed speaking with the Illinois parents and fans during the monsoon weekend series with them as well. The USM fans - a few of them that I saw, deserved hell more than Hoosiers did.

Back to caps. I wish I had an Illinois and Indiana cap as well. Whenever I see the Illinois "I" logo I think to Henry Blake's story about wrapping the wrong leg and Tank Washington shooting out his porch light every year.

MASH was a phenomenal show and the best ones were with Col. Blake.
After he left, it was still ok but became basically Alan Alda's "Dancing with Himself"
This propaganda bomb episode may be my favorite as it also has a college football component.

I also enjoyed the episode where they sold Henry's oak desk to black market for medications.
I should make the second photo my avatar.

I love the retro letterman sweaters. They never should have gone away. I wonder if there is a simple white Tennessee sweater with Power T like this.

Originally the Pioneers. Nickname Purple Aces originates to basketball game when rival coach told Evansville coach that he had five aces up his sleeve. Hey! At least it’s more original than Tigers.

While in college, I remember their basketball team wore short sleeve jerseys. Short sleeves are trendy again more than a decade after Evansville ditched its trademark look
Tennessee went 3-2 against the Vandy Boys.

Hopefully we treat them better than several did the IU’s coaching staff’s families. I know the HC’s wife and set with her for their entire game vs USM and asked how the experience had been and she said overall it was great and most everyone was nice. However, during our game her 5 yr old son and the other coach’s kids were chanting Let’s Go IU and an adult man began chanting “no f@@k you, no f@@k you” to a bunch of kids. The oldest kid belonging to the IU staff couldn’t have been more than 7.

Can’t say I've never cussed at a sporting event with kids around but I can say without reservation I’ve never directed it a group of 5 year olds.

That stuff is the lowest of lows. Cursing at Kids? Somebody needed a busted lip.

Amazing Rhythm Aces, a great Knoxville band. Remember "3rd Rate Romance"?

"When he came back with the key, She said give it to me, and I'll unlock the door". She kept saying, "I've never really done this kind of thing before have you?" Yep, remember it well, I was in a band back then and we played that tune often. Didn't realize they were from Knoxville!! Thanks for that!

We lived in Knoxville when the song came out. Seemed like every other radio tune was thst one. Aces WAS a great band.

wasn't the setting Ruby Tuesday's on The Strip? maybe a different restaurant...
Only "setting" in the song I recall was the Family Inn. That Ruby Tuesday on the Strip was my first experience with Ruby Burger & Bloody Mary. It's gone now, right?

i saw a UT fan chanting “Go IU, Go IU, Go IU” to mock the IU fans while he walked by their section. It really ticked off a couple of the IU fans who told him to go sit down. No cursing by either side. I wonder if she misunderstood what he said? Either way, one fan being an idiot happens everywhere. Certainly isn’t reflective of our fan base. (Thankfully). I hope Evansville fans have a good experience—except for the outcome of the game of course. 🍊👍👊😀🍊🍊👍👍👊

Every fanbase has their jerks. Maybe because it was the night game and Indiana had steam rolled Southern Miss, IU’s fanbase was particularly loud at the beginning of the game and when Tennessee didn’t score in the first, but it didn’t bother me personally. Apparently some UT fans did take it personally, thus the return chants when UT started scoring. My philosophy is don’t give what you can’t get.

From the KNS.... this is pretty much what I remember.... Supposedly Russell did not use "Holiday Inn" or use "Ruby Tuesdays" because he did not want to be sued over the (at the time) risque' lyrics. RT's is gone now....

This guy was sitting a row or 2 behind the families. A few innings later he went on his own accord and bought candy for all the kids and apologized to the moms/wives for his language and admitted he was out of line. So there was no confusion on what he said.

Good info. I was working outside of Bowling Green, Ky the summer it came out. The local DJ would read latest celebrity gossip stories and afterwards sing “Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous!!” when appropriate! Still think of the song whenever I pass a Family Inn. That chain wasn’t founded until 1980 according to website - 5 years after song came out.

That’s embarrassing and I’m sorry it happened. Please let them know that Volnation sends an apology for the actions of a few.
I’ll drop a “$h!t” from time to time, if we give up a bomb or go down swinging, but it’s usually under my breath. I don’t care if you are sloppy drunk(which I have been) you don’t direct nonsense that at kids, that’s crazy!

I saw nothing bad out of any IU fan. Walked up and told Taylor’s parents that he was a good ballplayer. Sadly had to witness Foley’s father going through the motions parents do when their child is not having a good game. That was tough to see, you could tell the father wanted it so much and it was just not going according to plan. He was pacing and couldn’t watch and was shaking his head.
Southern Miss fans were the ignorant ones but not when they played us of course.
IU tried to bring it and I give them props for that. That little section of red got rowdy at times. Until we started putting the hurt on them.

Bad behavior happens at sporting events - some intentional, some not. 25 years ago when I lived north of Boston, I was a Big Brother to a great kid named Michael. When he was 12, he shocked me by saying he wanted to try out for a baseball team. Bout fell over because all he did was play video games. Well, he made a team and I attended a lot of practices and at his first game, I was seated on a bench about 6' from the backstop on Michael's team dugout side (3rd base side). The first three kids walked because the opposing pitcher had little control. As the clean up hitter was on deck, in between pitches, I said to him that since the pitcher is throwing some wild pitches, he should be very patient. Well, the woman sitting next to me stands up and berates me up one side and down the other and said I should never be allowed to attend any kid baseball games again. She makes a huge spectacle and I was simply dumbfounded, as obviously the pitcher was her son. (she was sitting on the wrong side of the backstop of course...)

Anyway, may we all be mindful of our audience when we are rooting for our team.
