Blame it on our perimeter defense, not the coach. The 1-3-1 makes us very vulnerable to the 3 ball, and unfortunately we suck at defending the perimeter. A&M hit 3s, Georgia hit 3s, and Florida hit 3s.It's quite sad that this type of parody is even possible! When Martin first came aboard, I thought it could be a good move. This is the first time I have really jumped off the bandwagon. Pardon me, BleedingtnOrange, but when a coach inaugurates his 1-3-1 defense against Alabama at the fifteen minute mark, runs it the rest of the game, and expands a 6 point lead to a 17 point win, and never uses it more than a couple of minutes until the Florida game where he held them scoreless for seven minutes of the last eight before reverting to man-to-man, and then it does not show up for a minute or two against Georgia, Missouri and Texas A & M, there is something wrong with the thought process.
You're a pessimist. How about blaming it on your suck up job to one of the worst coaches in UT history.

Yeah, if you read what I was responding to you'd realize I was responding to why we don't run the 1-3-1. Nice try though.
We run the 1-3-1 to stop drives and to force an outside shot. I was responding to the individual who was complaining about why we don't run the 1-3-1 more often. We do NOT run the 1-3-1 often because we are a liability on the perimeter defense. We are a liability on the perimeter because of the defense style, not because of our personnel or bad coaching. If you understood basic zones or defenses you would understand better. No, understood perfectly. But we suck at guarding the perimeter (your words). Now, who is responsible for our defensive scheme that causes us to suck at guarding the perimeter.
Go ahead, it's ok to say it. Let go.
