Solid hire. I'm glad to have someone come here who really wanted to be here and turned down another offer to come. If so many of us (myself included) weren't drinking the Grud-aide, this wouldn't seem like such a bad hire. I'm not overly excited, but I want to be, so I hope he gives the fanbase the opportunity to get pumped up again quickly with his staff and recruiting efforts. Go Vols!

I'm behind the hire because the man wanted the job knowing full well what the fan reaction was going to be. He actually wants the job folks. GBO! VFL!

Dooley 2.0 When does this program make it official they don't care about winning football games and move to Conf. USA?

You won't have Tennessee to kick around any......oh wait never mind. Keep the slip n slide out at the top of The Hill so in three years we can send this jabroni flying down like we did to Dooley.

Can't wait to see Tyler bray try to run the triple option! You people are deranged if you are seriously backing this hire.

Triple option? What in God's name are you talking about? Did you see the triple option when UC came to Knoxville last year?

Hated the hire at first....then I researched it....winning coach with 6yrs head coaching experience....won conference 4of those 6yrs.....beat Charlie Strong 2 out of 3ys....Big East coach of the year 2x....so I will give him a little bit of rope and see if he hangs himself....he needs to retain Graham and Pittman....then bring in former players to help him understand the culture at TN...this is 3rd stop....not 1st or 2nd.....so here we go......GO VOLS

Look everyone-someone who looked at facts before forming an opinion. What a concept.

I'm telling you.... Go watch some video of this guy. He acts like he would take a bullet for his team. And I hope he reiterates that at the PC today. There are a bunch of KIDS in a locker room, or about to take finals, who are wondering about their football future. I bet he fights for them, and vice versa. And I hope he delivers an eloquent F-U to fans who aren't on board.

Even if Butch was about our fourth or fifth choice it's still a big improvement over Dooley. 2013 will likely suck because Bray and Patterson definitely aren't returning, but if he can find a Dan LeFevour type soon all is well (Peterman, possibly).

Well his name is Butch. Sounds kinda tough. Maybe he could be like the playground bully who pushes Saban down, insults Richts hairstyle and steals Will "sweaty" Muschamps lunch money.

He's OUR coach and will be for a while. Let's give him a chance to succeed. I think the players and fans will grow to love his pitbull mentality fighting for the Orange.
