Well, VT is taking the Power T

I know Iowa looks similar to the Steelers but what did they need permission for? The letter I? Confused.

Not the logo but the uniform is identical otherwise. Pittsburgh gave them permission to copy it. That is the claim on Wikipedia anyway.

Aaaah, gotchya. I think you're allowed to rip off uniforms though(the looks of them). One of the Iowa City high school teams is called the Little Hawks and the logo on their helmet is the same as the Iowa Hawkeyes. They wear red and white though.

It possibly might just be the Steelers copyrighted their unis and look

Could be I suppose. I find it odd they'd be able to copyright black/yellow and stripes. Logos I'd understand but the rest, maybe. I really don't know

i think it's just set up in that particular (or similar) manner or fashion

i'd be a bit surprised by that though...then again with a major organization/business, i wouldn't be that shocked either. Businesses copyright all sorts of odd things...George Lucas / his company owns the word droid for example

I was just surprised at the color and shape. I mean it looks a lot like the Tennessee T. I am probably all the way wrong, but it seems like it would be against some kind of trademark.

Yeah, that stuff is crazy. I saw a small business owner had the last name McDonald and he decided to call his place McDonald's. Which... you know he is probably doing it because it's a popular name but it's also his name and he does own the shop. So, McDonald's makes sense. But of course, he got sued(think he lost). That's bogus you can't even use your own name

Most of the time no one bothers HS teams. But there was a story a year or two ago about a HS that was using the Gator logo and UF made them change it.

You're all the way wrong in that it's simply an orange T over the letter V, and there is no room for a trademark to be involved whatsoever.

Easy there fella. I am just discussing and even admitted I was wrong. Just calm down and go vaccum out your couch or something.

Yeah, I understand not allowing them to use your logo. I guess I'd just be surprised if you're able to bar teams from using colors and simple patterns. Again, I really don't know. You guys very well may be right. Just seems petty if you don't want someone to wear black jerseys with yellow pants and couple of white stripes on your sleeves. I think that's what the unis look like off the top of my head anyways. Really basic though
