Meanwhile, UT is trying to figure out a way to crack the top 30 for the second time in 3 years.

All is well!!:eek:k::eek:k::eek:k:

Where are all the folks who insisted that things would work out, because "UT and Fulmer always finish strong"??

Alright let's go over this. 2006 we came off a 5-6 season which equals a bad signing class. 2007 we had the #3 class in the nation and no one was worried then. 2008 was strictly a needs class and we could still end up a top 25 class. No matter, classes according to rivals mean nothing. Getting them on the field and producing is what counts. Next year we will prob have another killer class and everyone will be fine again.

I would love to see another coach in here, but it's not because our current one can't recruit. Recruiting is the one thing he and his staff have always been able to do for a team in a state that doesn't produce very good D-I talent on a regular basis. Name a team who had to bring an entire new offensive staff and recruiting didn't suffer.

We have a winner.

There is no reason why you can only "fill your needs" with average players. Does Carson Anderson really fill the OL need, for example? And don't talk to me about the fact that TN has no talent. Limited? Yes. But notice where 3 of the top 5 players in Tennessee ARE headed? About 3-4 hours south, that's where. I know what will be coming in response to this post: "well, what would you have us do about it?" The answer is nothing now. The opportunity has been missed for another season, and the slide toward mediocrity WILL continue, no matter what orange spin you want to put on it in February. Just remember this post and others like it when UT is 2-7, 1-8, or even 0-9 combined vs. Bama, Florida and UGA over the next 3 seasons. The 07 class alone is not enough. CPF rode the streak over a wounded Bama to keep his job, and that is long gone now. Do we want to win, or do we want to hope it somehow turns around even with Meyer, Saban, and Richt working against us.

Whistling past the graveyard, folks. All is well.

We won't know if Carson Anderson will fit the need until he gets on campus. He could be a complete failure or one of the best lineman to come through. Making that statement based off of his two stars is ignorant.

I've yet to see a game awarded to the school simply because they have a higher recruiting ranking.

Some seem to believe this is the case. I think I enjoyed the recruiting time of the year more before I knew anything about the amount of stars each recruit had.

Wow your really optimistic So, if we have a year like this past year everything will be ok?

No I'm realistic. The sky is not falling because Rivals says our class is mediocre. Rivals is wrong most of the time. It is just this past recruiting class that is giving everyone the wrong impression. Every once and awhile Rivals and Scout gets something right i.e. Eric Berry and Gerald Jones. Many times Rivals is wrong i.e. Daniel Brooks. If people are freaking out because Rivals tells them to, then they are dumb. If someone wants to be angry because in what is supposed to be a needs class at DT and we only sign one DT then ok. But b/c rivals rates our class bad doesn't mean they will be bad. If you want to freak out 4 years down the road if this class turns out to produce nothing, I won't blame you. Please people, don't jump to conclusions. Be patient.

I don't know about entire offensive staff, but Auburn replaced their Offensive Coordinator and Defensive Coordinator and they seem to be doing pretty well. Seems like we are losing recruiting battles to them. Our recruiting was way down for the year already before Cut, Trooper and the others left. I think it hurt us on a few recruits, but I think this was going to be a down recruiting year for us anyways. I am not so sure some of the coaches put in the effort before they left that they normally would have, because they knew there were going to be some changes.

Who have we lost to Auburn? Savage...his mom is a huge Auburn fan. No surprise there. And we have a very good chance of landing Enrique Davis, a player who left Auburn because of problems stemming from coaching chances.

Andre Wadley, Jomarcus Savage and Cameron Henderson were all guys we were in a recruiting battle with against Auburn. Although, there still might be an outside shot Henderson changes his mind and commits to UT. He is a soft verbal and I hear he is still considering the Vols.

However, they are ranked 16th in recruiting and we are
37th, and they did replace both Off. and Def. Coordinators.

Recruiting shouldn't be suffering on the defensive side of the ball. Staff changes would be a poor excuse for this especially on the other side of the ball.

I can't explain the lack of recruiting success this year on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe the negativity this program recieved throughout the season last year, and 2 years ago, finally caught up. Optimists could argue the youth on the defense and knowing new guys coming in have little shot at playing early. I don't know that.

Its all part of the steady decline were in. I would like to think it will get better. But my faith is waning. It sets us back in future years with or without fulmer.

You don't recruit by positions. Certain coaches take areas and recruit all the players in that are regardless of position. It definitely hurt the offensive recruiting more but to say it shouldn't hurt defensive recruiting is foolish. Trooper was probably one of the main recruiters for a lot of those players down in Florida, Georgia, SC, etc.

You see vols kick nuts. I just don't get that. There was no turnover on our defensive staff. Those players know who they will be playing for. That excuse pretty much sucks. I understand about certain coaches recuiting certain areas. But if you know the people are going to be there as your coaches it shouldn't matter.

So you are saying that losing your primary recruiter and our overall recruiting coordinator won't hurt? That is f'ing stupid.

What the he... ll are the rest of them doing. You telling me we have one guy going around getting all of our players. That sounds stupid. What the he'''ll are they doing. When super trooper left for puke state someone should have jumped right in on those guys. Saying losing a ego maniac, chest bumping baffoon ruined recruiting. In my opinion is stupid.

recruiting coordinator tends to manage recruiting. All the rest of the coaches had to scramble to pick up slack. Not every position coach recruits all the time. Taylor did, but he left so we lost all his effort there

By the looks of things his effort was poor.
