I didn't know if this should have gone into Politics or the Pub.

Have you all seen/heard of these people? If you haven't, Youtube the church and see what they're doing.

As a Christian myself, I find them highly annoying, highly intolerant, and completely wrong in their stance.

Your thoughts?

A prime example of selective interpretation of the Bible and otherwise a group that deserves a collective boot up their arse.

Here's what happens when the right of free speech meets the right to get pissed about the speech.

I had to do a study on their church for one of my honor classes in college...the church is just totally out there with the God hates etc. ..in fact, they are the exact opposite than what christians should be...not as some sort of cult that is impossible to talk to but we should be able to take in other opinions and defend our faith...not destroy anyone that doesnt hold that belief

Just an excuse for the media to lump all Christians in the hate category. I like that vid.

I think they're nutjobs. The Bible is very hard for the average joe like me to interpret, which is much like politics for me - I never know what to believe.

I know that I believe in God and that I don't believe he hates homosexuals.

These kooks have been around for a long time. Their hatred for everything but themselves and their version of God is inexplicable and highly troubling. I can only hope that God will help them appease the rage and hate they seem to always feel inside.

Granted, I haven't seen every piece of media coverage on them, but of those I've seen, which are many, not a single one has painted them as a mainstream Christian. In fact all of them have expressly said that these views are radical and controversial.

exactly. There message of damnation of everything is out of proportion, in looking through their website not one time did I see anything about God's forgiveness and salvation....which the last time I checked was the only way to get to heaven, not picketing at the NIU funerals (they have two pickets planned for 2morrow during two of the students funerals)

I know all of you guys think I am off the charts insane and liberal, but for what it's worth, I don't think that a ban on their funeral pickets would be unconstitutional.

That really sucks. These people are insane.

I didn't know that... some people in this world do not need to reproduce.

Eh, I feel like we can't get too judgmental. It's not our place. We can disagree with them, but it's up to God to judge us all.

being a knee jerk liberal JD type, I'm shocked that you would invoke God for anything. I thought the individual was your god.

amazing how these people are dismissed as a fringe group of Christianity but all Muslims are grouped into one entity so often on this board.

I think being judgmental is fine as long as you exercise the same standard for yourself. I hope that if I ever act this way someone will smack me with a 2X4.

It's because truthfully we didn't really know a whole lot about Islam or Muslims...i mean let's be honest I'm sure there was a large majority of people who did know alot about them, saw Sept. 11, the people that committed the crimes were Muslim, and therefore were unable to designate between the radical and the normal Muslim

it's still wrong though.

I know this is going to bring the wrath of pj and bill, but no where in the bible does it say to kill non believers. The Koran does; you can argue all you want but that's a fact. Are all Muslims evil? I don't think so. I'm just stating what it says.

the problem is that question even being posed, that it would cross anyone's mind that that's the case.

Not sure if you mean I think that; it doesn't change what I said about the Koran, but I certainly don't think all of them are evil.

If you mean I should be able to say that without anyone implying it I agree 100 percent.

No, the bible doesn't say to kill non believers. It does say that all non believers are going to incur the wrath of God, which is pretty much what nutjobs like Fred Phelps are saying.
