We've got National Title Talent

Holly is and always will be asst. coach material. Mickey Demoss was always the better coach. I've read where she doesn't want to be a head coach, but if Holly fails, I would break the bank trying to get her to change her mine. Go Lady Vols!

I miss Mickie!

Fail. Holly's already won SEC championships with less talented rosters than that.
She did it with Pat's players and system. Holly hasn't done Jack with players recruited by her and NOT recruited by Pat.

We're cautious because we grossly underachieve, because we don't have a coach who can take the talent and run with it.
It'll probably be pretty clear watching the first games before December. If we come out against unranked teams and don't (a) look good and don't (b) win by 20+ then we'll know we're in for a year similar to this past year and all the others.

Heaven forbid if we LOSE any games against unranked again, then we will KNOW it's deja vu all over again.

There's simply no reason for us to not come out the gate looking good and playing good. Why would they be rusty? Do they not know the offensive system yet? Do they not know each other? Why wouldn't we be clicking on all cylinders RIGHT NOW?

To me anyway this is like a big recycle... it is fun to look ahead and project.... to anticipate next year's success. to choose the starting lineup....

To me, the head coach is the most important factor for a team's success. A point guard is #2. We have not been doing well in these for quite a few years. we have had the ingredients in other areas, but not the good input in these 2 areas sufficient to pull it all together....

I hope Tea comes in and is improved from her last year.... and hope also that Westbrook is competition ready unlike most freshmen.... hope for bang up first year.... like Destiny Slocum....

As for coaching... hope for best also.... but i am realistic... after 30 years as an assistant, our coach is starting her 7th year as head coach. including the one she filled in for Pat.... that is a time frame she had the horses, yet saw Dawn and Vic jet right past her.... Should not have happened at this program

Holly could have Candace Parker, Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings, Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Brittney Griner, and Cheryl Miller all in their prime and I wouldn't expect a top 3 finish in the SEC.
Not such about that. She did pretty good last summer with our best collegiate players and kicked butt.
Your post is too extreme.

We can talk about negativity and direct lines into the AD for complaints, however, we cannot overcome the fact that we have underachieved. Last year's team had as much talent as most of the teams in the top 15, however, where were we ranked? It has to be either the players or the coaches. The fact is there is a problem somewhere. To ignore it and stick your head in a hole and say everything is great is only lying to yourself.

By miracle, next year's team may be a final four team, or it may not be any better than this year's team. If the latter happens, no matter how much you love or hate Holly's coaching style there will be the need for a change. A lot of things will be dependent upon coaching and the players' ability to carry out a viable plan on the floor.

How far can you take three fatigue players and a depleted bench?
The problem was the short bench , but many fail to see this.

Nobody failed to see a short bench. Holly made it even shorter by not developing Kortney Dunbar, Kamera Harris, MeMe Jackson and S. Nunn.

Junior Dunbar minutes went down from her previous two seasons. Holly does not know what she is doing that's why the bench was short THAT and O recruits the previous year. Albeit grad transfer Nunn and Harris who saved Holly's job by committing at the last minute then rewarded with bench time.

Appears you failed to see all of that. :eek:k:

Holly is the worst coach ever.

She didn't help things leaving Harris & Dunbar sitting either.

She didn't know to incorporate them into a winning system. That's what practices are for. Putting players in situations to take advantage of their skills.

Kortney 3pt threat but implementing a dribble drive with ball and head fakes to attack the rim. Also Kortney was a pretty good rebounder. But Harris is a rebounder. And didn't display too much of that because of very limited minutes and hardly any playing time.

Coaching is essential to putting their players in a position of success Holly has shown time and again she doesn't know how to do that. And what an injustice to the players and fans.

I agree with Prophet1...the bench was extremely short and provided inconsistent support all season [not that they didn't try]...next season's team should have ample support to our three core players...we should be a more than dangerous team...:D GO LVs

I have pervading thought regarding supporting the three core players.... one i have thought for long time yet not voiced.....

We need all five on the floor to hone their skills and not have the attitude that the engine works on basis of three workers and 2 support players....

To choose an example not popular down here.... the UConn team.... Saniya didn't see the court until her senior year to a large degree because she could not play defense..... and I remember from what I saw and read 2 or 3 years back. .. Kelly Faris (more a glue player than a feature player) was forced to take shots when she was open... exactly what she did not want to do...

Because anything short of all five of your players being skilled in all aspects of the game - at least in reasonable amounts - gives the other team a huge advantage, in that they can cheat on focusing on the skilled players.... making their task all the tougher.

Are you talking about the World University Games? She wasn't the head coach and if she was they would have lost.
