What’s up with the play calling this year?

The last offensive drive Joe looked great and the offense looked like last year until UF started “cramping” and grabbing jerseys getting us out of rhythm. Joe doesn’t process things very quickly and I’m not his biggest fan but his deep ball is exponentially better than when he got here. The two throws to Thornton and the one to Bru were unbelievably good. I didn’t see the “Joe can’t throw it” mantra tonight.
You can’t say he looked great, Flordia played a prevent defense the entire 4th q.. those stats ain’t worth s***.

I gave you three throws. The throws to Thornton were 40 yards downfield where is that prevent defense? The over the shoulder throw was the best pass of his career and one you won’t see many guys make.

We all thought there wouldn’t be much difference in the play calls this year because it’s heups system. Is Hazel calling the plays? Or is heup? Is the conservative play calling because of an inexperienced oc being hesitant to pull the trigger because he’s afraid of messing up or is it because they’re afraid Joe Milton can’t get it done throwing a forward pass. This offense is night and day from last year and not just because hendon isn’t here. The playcalling is abysmal.
Hueple is the play caller

Hooker was a good, quick, decision maker. Milton not so much. Hooker could scramble…Milton not so much. Hooker could check down to his 2nd, 3rd, or 4th option…Milton locks in on his 1st option and dam the torpedoes…and it doesn’t seem to work well for us, smh.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Listen don’t waste your time telling me Joe Milton isn’t a terrible qb and the reason this offense is night and day from last season. Go talk about it to the other 3 fans that agree with you.

Heupel” so the conservative play calling is bc of Joe Milton. Gotcha. If joe can’t throw the ball and loosen up the defense then you can’t throw screens and run the ball bc the defense will all play downhill and this offense won’t score more then 21 points in the sec

Too many horizontal plays and not enough vertical.
If they don’t trust Milton on the vertical throws then put Nico or Gaston in.
This side to side stuff won’t get it against SEC defenses.
A lot of Milton’s success came against prevent defense.
Pre snap reads are a problem for him. Lacks awareness.
IMO, Gaston or Nico either one would have better command and run the offense more efficiently.
Defensive adjustments came too little too late. Martinez should have been shown the door at the end of last season.

When thrown down field tonight he was effective. Tonight it can’t be argued. He struggles on the over the middle throws that are more timing dependent, I’m not refuting it. When we “opened” it up tonight it was manageable. I’m in agreement that if we can’t trust him to do anything other than throw laterally then he doesn’t need to be on the field. Turn it loose for one game and see how it goes. There are reins on the offense right now.

Hooker was amazing, and ran the offense the way Heup envisions it. Milton has the mental capacity of a potato and does not have even close to the same grasp as Hooker did. If Hooker played tonight, we win by 2 TD’s

This is why Heupel should have tried to get a transfer QB. Milton ain't it and all you have behind him is a true freshman. Heupel screwed up here big time. This year is going to be a waste with Milton, or a freshman behind a shaky oline.. Neither is a good option..

Yeah I don't know where people are finding that accusation from this game. He threw some great balls.

I don’t know, I’d like to not gas our RB for 4 straight plays then, after he taps his helmet to the sideline, give him the ball right up the middle again for a loss of 2 yards.

Feel like that’s now part of the playbook.
They don’t want to substitute the rb and allow the D to sub too, but damn….do they really expect an exhausted rb to make much of a play? It’s crazy

It's bad man. They aren't even giving Milton a chance to be successful. I don't think they called a single mid-range pass or even a slant in this game. If they have that little confidence in him, why is he starting? He hit on a few of those long shots tonight. We need more of that. They need to run him more. Dude is pretty fast.

There are other issues. I don't know if the plays are coming in late or if Milton isn't getting the offense set right, but the tempo is much slower than it was last year. His pace seems almost leisurely pre-snap. But yeah, play calling has been very perplexing all year long. Don't understand why we abandoned the run in this game.
