And if I had to guess why this is an issue now is because we are ramping up aegis systems around Iran, which also happen to be close to Russia. I'm thinking Obama is walking a tight rope to maintain relations with Russia. (And yes, I do think New START is worth it)

I have a couple of problems with the new START.

One, why should we pay for their disarmament?

Two, what of reports that the eastern European governments aren't really using the funds we send to disarm but are channeling the money to Syria which is sending it to Iran so they can build nuclear arms?

I would think that should bear more investigation.

Question; if the missile shield is such a pipe dream, why has Japan threatened to shoot down the next NK missile?

There have been major advancements in anti-missile missile technology and there have been reports that Obama intends to pass such technology along to the Russians.

Another question; Why did Barry and Michelle give their daughters Russian names unless they worship and the feet of Marx and Lenin and believe in a communist form of governance?

Oh wait, maybe they just like Dr Zhivago?

From my perspective, I think that when folks call missile defense a pipe dream, they are referring to missile defense against sophisticated missiles with countermeasure design. Japan may very well be able to shoot down a North Korean missile at this point. Though the Patriot wasn't apparently all that successful in the Gulf War, that technology platform alone is better now and could go after a lobbed missile. Other hit to kill devices could likely be successful against a small-scale, let's say, Iranian missile launch (which is why the European missile shield at least passes the first eye test). However, the pipe dream comes into play when we starting talking large stockpiles with sophisticated missiles.

Funny how a thread lasts longer if you call Barry and POS than if you use his real name Hussein.

That's cool, I can be flexible also.

Oh I know - just will be interesting to see how the guy who always claims the other side is "playing politics" will explain this.

Maybe its like Pelosi said about the Healthcare bill, ya know, we have to pass it to see whats in it...Maybe we can learn his intentions once we reelect him....I just love suprises, don't you?

Obama unilatterally ceded some islands in the Bering sea to Russia that had been under the American flag for over a century and a half.

Along with domain over those islands, tens of thousands of square miles of potential oil fields and rich productive fishing grounds for Americans were given a way.

A crock?

BTW, I looked at my home page and saw that you had filed a complaint on me for 'objectional language.'

What was that all about, speaking truth to lies?

FWIW, the previous complaint (with a three ban by milo) for the same supposed offense was in reply to a post in which some doofus called me a dolt, I replied and didn't call the poster any name (that was left to one's imagination), but my post was deleted but his was not.

How about you two just pretend to be fair?

Report: Obama Administration Is Giving Away 7 Strategic Islands to Russia | The Gateway Pundit

May 1881 US explorers approached Jeannette Island and Henrietta Island and claimed them for the United States. According to some US individuals, including the group State Department Watch, eight Arctic islands currently controlled by Russia, including Wrangel Island, are claimed by the United States. However, according to the United States Department of State no such claim exists. The USSR/USA Maritime Boundary Treaty, which has yet to be approved by the Russian Duma, does not address the status of these islands nor the maritime boundaries associated with them.

The Obama Administration is reportedly giving away Wrangell, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta islands in Alaska to Russia. The federal government drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side.

Former senatorial candidate Joe Miller broke this story at World Net Daily:

The Obama administration, despite the nationÂ’s economic woes, effectively killed the job-producing Keystone Pipeline last month. The Arab Spring is turning the oil production of Libya and other Arab nations over to the Muslim Brotherhood. Iraq is distancing itself from the U.S. And everyone recognizes that Iran, whose crude supplies are critical to the European economy, will do anything it can to frustrate AmericaÂ’s strategic interests. In the face of all of this, Obama insists on cutting back U.S. oil potential with outrageous restrictions.

Part of ObamaÂ’s apparent war against U.S. energy independence includes a foreign-aid program that directly threatens my stateÂ’s sovereign territory.

ObamaÂ’s State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians. Yes, to the Putin regime in the Kremlin.

The seven endangered islands in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea include one the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. The Russians are also to get the tens of thousands of square miles of oil-rich seabeds surrounding the islands. The Department of Interior estimates billions of barrels of oil are at stake.

The State Department has undertaken the giveaway in the guise of a maritime boundary agreement between Alaska and Siberia. Astoundingly, our federal government itself drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side. But as an executive agreement, it could be reversed with the stroke of a pen by President Obama or Secretary Clinton.

The agreement was negotiated in total secrecy. The state of Alaska was not allowed to participate in the negotiations, nor was the public given any opportunity for comment. This is despite the fact the Alaska Legislature has passed resolutions of opposition – but the State Department doesn’t seem to care.

The imperiled Arctic Ocean islands include Wrangell, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta. Wrangell became American in 1881 with the landing of the U.S. Revenue Marine ship Thomas Corwin. The landing party included the famed naturalist John Muir. It is 3,000 square miles in size.

Putin's Arctic invasion: Russia lays claim to the North Pole - and all its gas, oil, and diamonds | Mail Online
(2007)

Russian President Vladimir Putin is making an astonishing bid to grab a vast chunk of the Arctic - so he can tap its vast potential oil, gas and mineral wealth.

His scientists claim an underwater ridge near the North Pole is really part of Russia's continental shelf.

One newspaper printed a map of the "new addition", a triangle five times the size of Britain with twice as much oil as Saudi Arabia.
-------------------

Experts estimate the ridge has ten billion tons of gas and oil deposits and significant sources of diamonds, gold, tin, manganese, nickel, lead and platinum.

Obama's Budget: 'Interest Payments Will Exceed Defense Budget' in 2019 | The Weekly Standard

-2_0.png

..... under President Obama's budget, the U.S. government will be spending more in 2019 to pay the interest on the national debt than it will be to defend America:

BTW, as I understand it Obama planes to reduce our nuclear weapon stockpile by 80% while Russian and China don't reduce their at all.

Where is the quid pro quo?

Status of Wrangel and Other Arctic Islands

No negotiations regarding the U.S.-Russia maritime boundary have occurred since 1990, when the U.S.-USSR Maritime Boundary Agreement was signed. The negotiations that led to that agreement did not address the status of Wrangel Island, Herald Island, Bennett Island, Jeannette Island, or Henrietta Island, all of which lie off Russia's Arctic coast, or Mednyy (Copper) Island or rocks off the coast of Mednyy Island in the Bering Sea. None of the islands or rocks above were included in the U.S. purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867, and they have never been claimed by the United States, although Americans were involved in the discovery and exploration of some of them.

All you are doing is restating what I had already posted, the State Department (aka foggy bottom, a communist party infested cesspool) says we have no claim.

And nowhere did I claim this to be a part of the purchase of Alsaka.

Some questions;

1. If we never had any claim why were there negotiations in 1990?

2. Why does senatorial candidate Joe Miller contest what the State Department says?

3. Why is Obama attempting to finalize the arrangement with Russia without even so much as a minimal amount of negotiation? (even before the next election he thinks he going to steal so that he will have even more flexibility)

4. Why did the state of Alaska pass a resolution opposing the Obama move?

Answer any of those and I have some more.

The Hitlery run state department has spent $500 million building and refurbishing mosques around the world, I suppose you have a state department web site expaling the wisdom of that program.

To be fair, Bush and all the congresses under both administrations share in the blame of that outlook.

True but Bush X 4 = Obama

Do you think we will get the PM option back in the forceeable future? It's a great way to clear up misunderstandings.

Thanx, nice to know, you could have told me then in that thread.

It did illustrate the savagry of the Zulu campaign of genocide against the Boers of South Africa that most on this board deny is even happening.
