It must be just you. Everyone from ESPN to Charles Barkley has been bashing MH for this.

Add Arian Foster to the list, he didn't bash him, but he put in a support Bruce Pearl tweet and said it was the best thing that ever happened to Hamilton. You know Foster didn't like Fulmer being fired.

I think Mike Hamilton has done a good job, no an excellent job, in upgrading the facilities. Fund raising- excellent. If that's his job, keep him. But as for the personnel and there oversight, he stinks. If anyone thinks Bruce was his hire, they're wrong. It was Ernie to Big Bill. Then you've got Raleigh, the handling of FCPF's firing (don't get me wrong, I think he should have been let go), then Lame's hiring (even the old Raider knew better than that), and all the crap with the 'AA. As for the CDD hire, the jury is still out, but right now it looks like a good one. All in all, I would give him a D+. In that case, not worth it. But that's just my opinion, and I don't have a say in the matter.

Could not have timed his comments worse. Regardless of BP's future, for him to bring this issue to the forefront just before the biggest stage of college basketball was just plain ole dumb. Not only did he take the legs out from under BP, his assistants, and the team, the fans and their enjoyment of the tournament has been obliterated. Don't understand why he could not wait till Monday. While I agree with the gist of his comments, his timing has really turned me off. Now we get to hear UT bashing for the whole tournament.

Mike Hamilton has got to go. He should follow Bruce right out the door. I see no way that the powers that be allow Hammy to survive long after Bruce is gone.

I actually wrote MH an email earlier this morning. I think he deserves the blame for pretty much everything that's gone wrong... read below if you wish but I didn't proofread it so there may be some sp or grammatical errors.

"Mr. Hamilton,

As an alumni I have great pride in UT athletics, primarily football and basketball, but I love seeing all of our various men's and women's teams succeed in all sports. I am in a state of pure bliss when we pull out a victory, and take each loss personally, as if my world is crumbling around me. I attended UT during the Jerry Green/ Buzz Peterson era, and lived briefly in Knoxville at the start of Bruce Pearl's coaching career with us. Being at UT for as long as you have, I know that you remember what Men's Basketball games were like prior to Pearl arriving. The energetic atmosphere wasn't there, the caliber of players that we now have wasn't there, the fan anticipation of our next game wasn't even there. One thing that was there, however, was a giant black curtain the spanned the upper concourse, concealing approximately half of the upper deck seats in an attempt to hide the fact that we couldn't fill the seats. When Coach Summit's teams took the floor the next night the curtain would be raised and the seats filled. You were responsible for hiring Bruce, and his impact on the program was evident immediately as he would be seen standing on cafeteria tables promising our students that we would make the "Dance" in that first season. He brought a fire and a passion to a program that had previously had none. This was your first major coaching change and you nailed it!

A short while later the decline of the football program became unbearable for many UT fans as you "fired" Coach Fulmer. I loved Coach Fulmer but wanted to see the program succeed, so I kept my mouth shut for the next year before the tumultuous ****storm ensued. I am not writing to bash the handling of the football situation. My point is that in your time as AD, and under YOUR watch, our athletic department has turned into a JOKE. Not a day goes by where a major sports network does not mention us on TV, radio, or the internet without talking about coaching changes, recruiting violations, players in trouble, or BRUCE PEARL. Every single game ESPN has shown us on this basketball season has covered this topic to the point of exhausting it, only to conduct in game interviews and ask him about it some more. So if you take the credit for the outstanding hire, then you must take the blame for this failure. Pearl's violations happened on YOUR WATCH. Kiffin's violations happened on YOUR WATCH. As the man in charge, it is ultimately YOU who are repsonsible for the recent decade of demise that has been major UT athletics.

HOW DARE YOU GO ON THE RADIO YESTERDAY, THE DAY BEFORE OUR PLAYERS BEGIN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT< AND CLAIM YOU ARE UNSURE OF PEARL'S FUTURE AS OUR COACH!!!!! I believe a more appropriate response from someone in the position you are in would be something to this effect..."Right now are focus is on the NCAA Tournament. We are really excited for our program and looking forward to cheering our young men on as they face Michigan on Friday". See that was easy, you made no mention of Pearl's name, and thus didn't add any more fuel to the fire. That comment was so ill timed, but that did not spark my recent anger towards you. You have been an awful Athletic Director. Every molehill, you turned into a mountain. You made problems where there didn't need to be any. What's that? You want examples? How about the fact that you never made Kifin sign a contract? Are you really that dumb? How about the cancellation of the UNC game next season? What's your excuse there, that an SEC team is not up to the caliber of a middle of the pack ACC team. You made UT a laughing stock with that one. It was like your mother telling the bigger kids not to pick on you when you're 8 years old.

Bottom line Mike, and at this point I'll call you Mike, is that you are a cancer. You have set our various major programs 20 steps backwards in your handling of many different matters. Yesterday was the final straw for me. I will no longer sit quietly by and watch you run UT's name into the ground. I am asking that you submit your resignation, effective immediately. I would even be fine with you accepting a lesser role at UT, just not one in which you are the voice of our programs and in the public spotlight. You must understand that the backlash against you is mounting exponentially. You will be forced out at some point, whether you're fired or you quit. You will not retire at UT on your own accord. You seem to have a problem with letting others do that, so you shouldn't have that luxury.

On another note, I will no longer be buying season tickets for football games. Instead I will travel to as many away games as I possibly can before I ever give another dime to my own institution as long as you're at the helm. Mike, there are many many others who feel exactly the same way I do. If we don't like your product we aren't going to buy it. I hope that sits well with the board of Trustees.

Disdainfully,

Proud UT Alum"

Tennessee athletics have been a circus for some time now.

I don't know about that, but has become a circus because of hammy either because he has looked the other way which i think is what happened with the whole lame kitty hire,or because he was snookered by the "Pit Master" either way it is his fault...

Hamilton is just "tatuming" Pearl to get him to coach harder.

This is what Brent Hubbs is reporting on VolQuest:

"The intent of the comments made by Tenenssee Athletic Director Mike Hamilton in a radio interview on Knoxville's WNML radio is anyone's guess. Was it a simple mistake? Was it calculated to try and test the waters or prepare fans for change? No one knows for sure, and we may never know.

Hamilton has privately indicated that it wasn't to create a firestorm. Wednesday night in Charlotte, Hamilton apologized to the basketball staff at a dinner that was previously planned with the coaching staff and administrators.

Whatever the reason for Hamilton's comments, they were ill-timed, ill-warranted and have created more than a firestorm.

They've created a mess."

According to everything I've heard on radio shows and articles read, MH is really taking a pounding from the fan base for the timing of the interview.
What the board is thinking, who knows.
He may have made a bed he can't lie in.

Mike Hamilton is not in a situation to "test the waters". The guy is an idiot and as long as UT lets him handle these issues, they deserve all the crap their getting. I'm one of the many thats glad he's getting called out.
