Some on here may not be thinking about the collateral damage in a coaching change; ie, Jay Graham, former All SEC RB at UT, who left a comfortable job at SCAR just this year to coach at his Alma Mater. Sure, assistants will be compensated, but in Jay's case, I think UT is where he wanted to be. If the change does happen, here's hoping that Jay gets to stay on; if that is his wish. JG epitomizes----VFL.

I was thinking same thing. He's also done a nice job!!! I feel the next coach would keep him cause he is a good recruiter also!!!!:good!:

a few of the offensive coaches should be retained based on who is hired. If not, I don't think they will unemployed long with the way our offensive has scored

Graham seems to have been a better player than coach in my opinion. The fact that it took half a season and an injury to Neal to get Lane a decent number of carries is kinda silly.

stupidest analysis ever.

how many times has lane put it on the ground and if my memory is correct neal has outworked and out hustled lane all season in practice, Graham is old school period.

Graham's job is to coach them up with skills required for their position. Anybody who looks at how all of the backs are performing compared to the last 2 seasons can see major improvement. He might have some say in who gets playing time, but that is going to ultimately be decided by the OC (Chaney) and the HC (Dooley). PT at running back is more than who can carry the ball. Effectiveness in blocking pass rushers is a huge factor in that decision in our offense. I suspect that is one of the main reasons that Neal was the starter, in addition to everyday effort in practice.

Lane is better in every measurable category than Neal. Call it old school if you want, but the only reason for playing Neal over Lane was because they liked Neal better as a person. He is nowhere near the back Lane is. Lane's vision is ten fold over Neal's. He is also a much better receiver and blocks substantially better as well. When his carries were limited, he tried to do too much with each touch and did put it in the ground because of it. Now that he is getting the carries he deserves and letting the game come to him, he is head and shoulders out in front of the other guys.

What did Neal ever do on the field that impressed you? He is great in the weight room and fast in the forty. His game is just not that good though.

I thought it was pretty apparent that our rb coach made the wrong decision but has now realized it and moved on to Lane. Judging by your reactions, I guess not.

Hopefully Pittman and Graham will be retained somehow

Graham, Pittman & Hinkshaw need to stay. Of course,
Chaney is doing better these past few games, not sure he should be retained though. Our offense is the best in the S.E.C.

Once Neal went north south, it's not even close!!! You can tell Lane doesn't trust knee yet. But hey you can think as you like for sure!!!

Graham and Hinshaw will both be missed but someone will scoop them up if they are not retained. They're too good to be unemployed for long.

I never said that Neal impressed me over any other back in particular, only that who plays is not solely decided by the position coach. I suggested possible reasoning behind those decisions, again not necessarily agreeing with their assessment.

Personally, I wanted to see more of Lane early on because he really seemed to be finishing runs off strong. Some of Neal's best runs have come just after Lane had come in with a strong run of his own.

New head coach means new assistants period.

It also means new O and D systems that our kids have to learn so don't expect too much better for the first year or 2.

Unless we run a true Pro style O like CDD is doing then many top recruits will look elsewhere because they have a better chance of getting drafted coming from a Pro style O since it's less for them to learn in the NFL and they can have more potential to make a impact as a rookie.

VFL...GBO!!!
