What about just a little pitching?

I never saw the pitching coach go out and talk to anyone. I missed the first inning only. Did he stay in the dugout the whole game? When our left hander came in after the starter at times he was just slinging the ball and standing straight up after the ball came out of his hand instead of driving through, down and following through to the catcher. Nothing was ever said to try and help him. Very disgusting to watch all of our pitchers. It was as if they were on the take to pitch that poorly. Not saying that happened but NEVER saw a pitching performance from Little League through high school in my 32 years of baseball. Yes, I've coached a LOT of pitchers, pitched myself and still get phone calls from high schools.

The first pitcher was hitting everything in the park except the strike zone. He threw behind a guy. walked a few, then beaned a batter in the head. I don't know if they took him out at that point already down 3-0.

Don’t forget the 2 balks. All of the above shouldn’t happen cumulatively over 2 series much less in one game. The conditions were ideal last night so just hard to explain.

If all of us are sitting here after watching that game, all saying we never seen nothing like it in our lives, and we all watch a lot of ball…maybe it was just a fluke.

I also can’t believe nor explain the pitching coach not making a trip during that sequence, never seen that before either.

So I’m gonna chalk it up to a weird, fluky game. But boy we coulda won that one now it’s an uphill battle.

That pitching coach‘s seat is on fire—way past burning. IIRC, Reynolds made one trip to the mound and that was in the 1st inning for Mack. At least he bothered to pull down his hoodie.

Well, I was hoping that there wasn’t something going on with the staff but I don’t wanna be responsible for spreading stuff, just makes it worse.

I had the same thought.
Earlier in the season he made a mound visit … with his hoodie pulled over his head. It was not cold or rainy. My thought was that this dude wasn’t going to make it. Turns out I was pretty close.
He doesn’t even coach like f he e wants to be here. Bad hire. Will set us back for seasons. Get him outta here.

As I always said, I wanted a national search for a HC. A top 5 program deserves an experienced guy. However Elander did have to hire position coaches pretty quickly. Maybe he didn’t have a lot of options, so if he doesn’t dismiss several of these guys and upgrade, I think Josh only gets 3 years before he’s gone.

Schnall is who we should have hired for a variety of reasons. However, I was ok with handing it off to Josh given how vocal players and others within the organization were. Hindsight is 50/50 though. Hopefully, we just slide Vitello and Frank back in once they get run out of San Francisco!

How about something In between?
The top names are attached to bigger programs. There's some JUCO guys we could likely go nab. Could probably grab somebody off Hook/Willis/Prior's staff and hope to recreate the magic? Pitching coaches are difficult to quantify, but I think we can all agree Reynolds has left a bit to be desired this season.

LMAO! Yep, you normally don't draw 2 balks in a full season.....And I've never seen a balk to an empty base.:D

No way it was a fluke. It had to take weeks to draw up a play that a balk to an empty base gives up a run. LMAO! I couldn't come up with that on the best mushroom trip.

As for a balk with an empty base, I bet you have seen one: Aaron Combs, CWS game three against Texas A&M. It was maybe the eighth or ninth inning.
I remember the balk. I don't remember him trying to pick off an empty base.
