What about that receiver from Memphis, Marlon Brown? (merged)

Didn't he chip a bone in one of his fingers during fall camp? Could be the reason he didn't see the field...

Could also be that he's playing behind some pretty good football players.

UGA Coach forgot about him.

-- Marlon Brown confirmed what Michael Moore told me Sunday: Tony Ball [UGA Asst. Coach, Wide Receivers] said he simply didn't realize Brown and Rantavious Wooten hadn't played against Oklahoma State.

“He said the game was moving so fast and he was trying to find out what plays worked and what didn’t work, and he said he just forgot, it slipped his mind,” Brown said.

any further proof needed of Richt's slow decline into Fulmerland?

this is really nothing like that situation. CPF didn't think he was ready

How is it different? Richt didn't think Brown was ready either, hence why he didn't play.

Just because they didn't think those players were ready, doesn't necessarily mean it was true. I find it hard to believe that either Lewis or Brown could have played much worse in those situations than the "more experienced" guys who played over them.

Fulmer knew Lewis was there but didn't put him in much (Lewis did play that game). The UGA coaches forgot Brown was even dressed out

This needs to be shown to every recruit we battle with UGA over.

Passing on Brown

Much-touted freshman wide receiver Marlon Brown said it was “a little surprising, a little disappointing” that he did not play Saturday.

Brown said he discussed the situation with receivers coach Tony Ball, who indicated Brown would play this week.

“We talked a little bit, and he said, ‘Just have a good week of practice, and then you’re good,’” Brown said.

I guess he is reevaluating his decision making after seeing how many Freshman played and contributed in UT's opening win last Saturday.

Riding the pine and losing to Okie St. is probably not the pitch he received during his recruiting last year.

Keep listening to Grandmama. Sounds like it is working out for you.

Has anyone heard why Brown didn't play last week?

What I heard was Tony Ball just forgot about Brown and the Wooten kid.

I was wondering if he would complain about not playing. Glad he's not here. I would take Teague and Nuke over him.

How in the world does a coach just forget about two of his players? If they are that forgetable maybe they are not doing so well in practice....

My guess...tight game on the roadin a hostile environment and you have no offense - who are you gonna trust, a couple of true freshmen or you upper classmen?

Richt only plays the REALLY talented freshman so why put Marlon in when you got AJ Green, not to mention Cox would have gotten him killed anyway...

Grandma might smell a little alcohol on Richt's breath if they don't start playing better.
