what about the defense ?

Will all depend on how the D-Line comes together??? Will they keep the O-Lines off the LBs and put pressure on the QBs to help the DBs????

Defensive line is the only question mark to me. The rest of the defense should be competent, which isn't something I feel like I've been able to say since Wilcox.

The D will be different and unlike these other guys... I'm not being smart.

They have changed philosophy and personnel on the DL. Last year they played big and slow. This year they have slid J Williams inside from DE. I still think he'll be flanked by Saulsberry but either way neither position will be as slow or immobile as either Hood or McCullers.

That is the biggest change other than perhaps Coleman to Nickel. He's a hitter and has more coverage skills than Toney or Swafford. Swafford has moved to S where he seems to be thriving. Moseley is coming up huge and could give UT a pair of corners that allows them to be creative with blitzes.

I think the LB's will be more than adequate though like most of the team they will be young.

It is sure to be different and we can't really say where they weaknesses will be until they're put to the test. What we can say is that their weaknesses and strengths will not be the same as last year. Totally different personnel strategy. Many different players.

I'm encouraged simply by the overall increase in speed, strength, and conditioning. That in and of itself will make a massive difference.

Possibly... but when you go speed first you open yourself up to the power running right at your undersized guys.

That said, UT is all but certain to go bowling if the D can get down to allowing 22-23 ppg.
