I counted 22 of the top 60 players on rivals with interest in the vols. I know some are never gonna happen, but what do the rest of you think might be possibilities?

Here goes a lot of names. sorry

Manti Teo
Rueben Randle
Devon Kennard
Marlon Brown (most obvious chance)
Dre Kirkpatrick
Dorian Bell
Jarvis Jones
Chris Davenport
Craig Loston
Craig Drummond
Tom Savage
Marcus Hall
Nico Johnson
Gabe Lynn
David Oku
Aaron Murray
Je'Ron Stokes
Corey Adams
Eric Shrive
Ronnie Wingo
Frankie Telfort
Sam Montgomery

This doesn't include 11 more in the top 100 and 33 more from 101 to 250.
Our name is out there with alot of prospects. I know alot will want to see what our offense looks like, but with kids deciding earlier anymore, I hope we start gettin in good.

Thoughts?

Any chance we work our way in with some of the other guys.
for instance- if we can somehow get Marlon Brown fairly early, would that have an affect on Murray or Savage?
just an example.

I hope we can land Savage. He looks like he will be really good if he can get coached up a little more.

I don't know why, but I have a great feeling that Ronnie Wingo is going to be a monster. I want to land this kid really bad.

Brown is the only one IMO, and I think he is wide open at this point. Lots of work to do. UGA and LSU are both limited in the number of scholarships they can offer this year. Both schools will take the cream of their respective crops but look for the Vols to get in the mix for a lot of well regarded prospects from those states.

Well, if we took your opinion all the time everyone would think we would only get 2 or 3 star prospects and never land any blue chip recruit. We would also believe we would win no more than 7 games.

David Oku is very good friends with Gerald Jones. GJ has been working on him to come to UT. I think we have a pretty good chance at him.

The article on volquest about oku is the first time he has legitimately mentioned us. In all of the other srticles, we are nowhere to be found.

but he watched us a lot this past year. I like to be an optimist for the most part.

Don't try to speak reason to hillbilly. He doesn't have any.

just because you dont agree with his opinion doesnt mean that he's an idiot. if you read his posts you will find that, for the most part, he's very well grounded. you just believe that all is fine on the Hill and he thinks we're an eroding program.

I didn't call him an idiot. Also, he hasn't given the new coaching staff a chance to prove that everything is ok on the hill.

as far as I can tell, it's the same D staff that's gotten beat down by Cal, UF, and Bama.

We should have more experienced players this year too. Berry, Morely, Vinson, Willingham, Bolden, Williams, McCoy, and Wilson have all started for this team before. Ayers, Wes Brown, McKenzie, Myers-White, Rogan, and Johnson have all played many, many minutes playing for this team. I'm willing to bet our D is much, much better.

gv182, I just sense a shift in the landscape. I've described it before. I hope the new coaches can recruit like gangbusters but so far we are not seeing results and lots of DTs and highly rated prospects are moving off the board. Maybe the Vols coaches can get alot of kids to break their word?

what does it say that highly rated DT's are forgoing immediate playing time to ride the pine elswhere? which happened to us with the last class.

It's not just the "highly rated" ones Rex. Auburn and Wake each took a one-star DT last week. I'd feel better about things if they were just getting any kind of commitments at positions of need.

I understand what you mean. we're desperate for DT's and for some reason we cannot seem to sign any.

I understand we need DT's and OL, but last time I checked signing day was in February. They have 10 months, if by December or January we don't have "any" DT's and OL, then we need to worry.

Also the same defensive staff that put together one of the nation's best D's in 2005 in spite of getting no help from the O.

I'm not a Chavis fan but to pretend that last year is indicative of their typical product isn't "realistic".
