what are our realistic chances?

UT is almost certain to have Sykes, Hall, and Rufus back next year. Hall is an excellent DT prospect. Sykes is a tweener. Rufus looks like a pure DE.

Also the same defensive staff that put together one of the nation's best D's in 2005 in spite of getting no help from the O.

I'm not a Chavis fan but to pretend that last year is indicative of their typical product isn't "realistic".

what have you done for me lately? as in the past nine years?

Well, in 2005, if we had a competent OC then we probably would have been in a BCS bowl. The D was outstanding that year. They have had 1 or 2 bad seasons. All we can do is hope they coaches are doing their jobs and teaching these guys the best way to play.

Rex will be like this until we get a solid commit. We all expect it (or should). If we all agreed and drank the orange Kool-Aid then this board would be boring. We bring in a few good defensive prospects and Rex will be right as rain again. :good!:

LSU just won the NC.
UGA's commits are all from the state of GA.
AUB's are all from the state of Alabama.
Miss St sucks, and so do their recruits right now.
Arky's commits are all from Arkansas.
Florida is one year off a NC, and 1/2 is from their state.

Randy was a terrible RB coach. I mean, Travis Henry, Jay Graham, Jamal Lewis etc

He really made Casey Clausen terrible too.

Justin, if you read the previous posts you'll see that I was not blaming RS, just responding to someone who was. Too many people want to blame RS without taking into account that Phil is ultimately responsible for it all.

So, what happened in 2006 if 2008 is the exception? prospects are being pressured to commit earlier and earlier. Guys who have relied on "closing strong" over the years are now utilizing an outadted strategy. UTK really needs someone like Marlon Brown to commit NOW so they can get some momentum with other elite prospects. If everyone sits back and wait to see how Clawson does before making a decision, for which I cannot blame them, it could result in 3 out of 4 recruiting classes being well below the usual talent level. I don't care how good the 2008 class is, or how good the coaches are. If you get into that kind of talent deficit against teams that have no trouble outrecruiting you due to their in-state talent, you are stewed. Whatever it takes, they need a big time on-the-record commitment ASAP.

1. Last I checked, nothing is permanent until the recruits sign the papers. Signing day is in February.

2. Umm...Steve Slaton was a 3 star, what kind of talent does he have?

Freak, is there a filter or something that will automatically correct it when people are unable to spell ridiculous correctly? You see it over and over on here. Sorry, it just drives me crazy. I expect to see that on Catspause.
