What are the candidates views on gas?

If I were black I would feel very compelled to vote for Obama because I would feel more comfortable and had someone in office who could relate to me better. I hope that does not offend anyone because there is no underlying agenda.

I don't get the point here.

He's saying Big Oil already pays a fortune into the gov't coffers, excluding any pump taxes, and that anything worse would be tantamount to socialism.

Under the Obama thievery plan, that $30 billion would seem miniscule, even though Big Oil was already paying its fair share.

It was a jab at a right winger, that's all.

And I read it as saying that big oil pays more than their fair share.

I'm paying over $100 for a fill up. I'm being told it's due to global supply and demand. I read that big oil breaks their own record for corporate profit.

In the end it's my fault for being dependent on gas, but dang man.

C'mon FV. That's the reason you would vote for Obama, to "feel more comfortable"? Yes, lets all feel more comfortable, while we are all being tax to death..:p

If I were black, I'd be pissed that so many other blacks were voting on a candidate because of his skin color.

No I would never say " O there just voting because" I dont believe that. I think its good for America and politics when a black man or women can win the Presidency. It says we practice what we preach.

but big oil profits are tied heavily to inventory repricing to reflect current oil pricing. They're actually getting killed in refining operations and their profit % per gallon is fixed due to overregulation.

I just don't think they're gouging anyone. I think they have a risk / return formula that works for them within the absurd regulatory environment they live in. The next quarter that oil falls in a big way, look for the big losses that the oil companies post. I suspect the masses won't turn to whining for them.

Wildcatting in oil is one of the riskiest businesses in the world and the masses are asking for the gov't to intervene so that those who did strike it rich would make less money. Can you imagine anyone continuing to take the risks if the gov't takes out the big upside in the returns? I don't know if you view the risk world as a big expected value calc, but these guys are and if the big upside goes away, those guys view the entire prospect of drilling for new oil in an entirely different light.

The last thing we need today is a deterrent to finding new oil or investing in means of extracting oil from new sources.

Uneducated voters are across the board for both sides.

Yes. But I don't get your whole "it is good if a woman or black candidate can win". How about we get beyond that and just view people as individuals. The skin color or sex or whatever tells me nothing about a particular person's abilities.

I'd say the proportions are vastly different on the two sides and it's due to the fact that the dems have gone out of their way to BUY those votes with others' money over the last 70 years.

Because the playing field has never been equal and you know it is way harder for a black or woman to win.
