I haven't seen a good scary movie since 2008's The Strangers.

I need to queue some.

Thanks for recommendations.

The Strangers was really scary because it felt so real. Good choice.

Halloween, Paranormal Activity, Quarantine IMO

If you liked Quarantine then you should check out REC. Quarantine was an American remake. Iirc it's a Spanish film so you'll have to read subtitles (unless of course you speak spanish). Came across it on Fearnet on demand one day at work and loved it. I think it's older then 3 years but still a great movie.

The original is way better (if you can tolerate subtitles), It's called Let the Right One In, or if your Swedish, Låt den rätte komma. Not really a scary movie. I wrote a review that's buried in the recently seen movies thread. Great movie, the original that is.

The Rite was ok.
Case 39 was alright as well.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

This thread inspired me to check some of them out. I'll let you guys know how they are.

The Last Exorcism
Zombies of Mass Destruction (similar to Shaun of the Dead)
Red, White & Blue
The Collector
Pontypool

Drag Me to Hell was funny and scary all in one movie. Need to watch it if you have not seen it.

I watched the two zombie flicks on my list. First up was Zombies of Mass Destruction. First off, the movie is nothing like Shaun of the Dead. It was horrible, in fact I couldn't make it past 30 minutes without turning it off. If a cheesy zombie flick is your thing, you may like it.
I did eventually finish it just to make sure I wasn't just being critical of the opening parts. The acting was horrible. The scenes in the trailer are probably the best acted scenes throughout the whole movie, and that's not saying much.

Next up was Pontypool. I actually liked this movie a lot. It's not your typical zombie flick where there are hoards of zombies running around on screen biting and killing at will (although there is a bit). Instead, it takes place in a radio station with three people doing a night broadcast of some sort. People call in as events unfold and everything seems like a mystery as to what is happening. It had a very unique way as to how the zombie virus spreads. The only bad thing I can say about it is the ending. I liked the ending/unique spin on things then again I didn't like it at the same time. I think most people will like 80% of the movie. The end may steer your likeness away, I don't know.

Scary movies have been really terrible in the past 3 years...but I agree hands down that The Strangers was SUPER freaky.

LOVED IT.
