What did Orgeron say/do to M. Brown???

Coach O told Marlon to be a man and not to let his girlfriend make decisions for him. Basically told him to grow a set. Marlon didn't like that so he followed his girl to Georgia.

There are rumors circulating that Richt had grandma kidnapped weeks ago, and that, in fact, Marlon has been getting advice from Charlie Gardner, who's been dressing up like his grandmother. Apparently they hatched the plan while watching Big Mama's House. Kiffin was gonna report it as a violation, but has been advised to hold off after the Urban Cryer episode.

"Meat Market" is a great read about CEO and recruiting. You can tell from the book how intense, understatement, CEO is about recruiting and everything else he does for that matter. It's also a great insight on how great CFW is on the recruiting trail.

This isn't an attempt to get at MB the wrong way.....BUT....If he can't handle the intensity of CEO on a recruiting visit, then UT definately was not the place for him. CMR pulled a slick move on the book knowing that grandma would disapprove. That wasn't very christian like, now was it?

Word is he absent mindedly dropped the F-bomb in front of Grandma...

To his credit, Marlon Brown addressed the bad language rumor and said it was false.

"Reasons": given:
1) Liquor on O's breath
2) Cussing by O
3) I had a "disagreement" with O
4) Meat Market freaked out granny on O

Let's see, I am a top reciever in the country, sky is the limit more likely than not will be playing on Sunday. So I am going to choose my freaking college based on any of the STUPID reasons above concerning an assistant coach on the other side of the ball?!??!?! Can you say dbag of the decade award?

These guys should have a rehearsed speech "All the schools were great but I just thought X was the best place for me" then shut the hell up.

Here's the real answer. Marlon Brown would rather play for a program that is barely as relevant as Utah has been in the last 25 years. He's a Memphis loser and I'd bet that he has no intention to graduate....not UT material. Just another Kelley Washington punk and I say good riddance.

A couple of things here. STOP being total homers and see things for what they are. Marlon went to UGA because of the Church of Christ/Richt connection. Get over it. Stop trashing the guy, no one knows at this point what kind of player he will be. All we know is that we didn't get him.

What was explained to me, and read into this whatever you may, is that Orgeron said in front of G-ma, "I'm just an ole ******* from Louisiana." and that's what turned them. Marlon was willing to overlook this, but his g-ma was not, which is why she did not make the trip to Knoxville.

Again, read whatever the f you want to into it, but that's what happened.

I can believe that. Trying to be humble and the term "*******" was probably offensive for obvious reasons.

IMO, it wouldn't have been offensive to 95% of the recruits out there, but it obviously was to Marlon. I don't think it will affect us in the future and may not have affected us here given more time, but that's the deal, and we just need to move past it.

I can not wait for Eric Berry to "offend" Marlon next October. Grandma is going to stroke when she sees that!

More classless pricks in this thread. I hope all of you think the same of Richardson since he bolted for UT from Florida. Heck, that was even worse since he was a Gator up until the final day.

Classless. Shows that the internet always makes people tougher than they are.

From a good source:

Granny offered coach O a cup of coffee, and told her all he needed was the grounds and a spit cup.

Sealed the deal for UGA.

Ole Miss players?? evidentally he was doing something wrong there Nutt took his talent and did well.

O brought Ole Miss up from the basement. He also didnt have the luxury of of having Snead at QB during his tenure. He is probably too intense for a HC position, but I think he is perfect as a recruiter/d-line coach. He tells it like it is and doesnt try to sugar coat crap. That is refreshing, IMO.

Marlon can go wherever he wants but why should he let his grandmother make his decisions. It seems to me that he cant make his own decisions. He needs to do whats best for him not his grandma.

Well the bottom line, too, is that some people are made to be a head coach, and some just aren't. It doesn't mean they are a bad coach, but they are much much better at handling things like recruiting and coaching specific positions. I mean look at Pete Carroll. It's definitely arguable if he is in the top 5 of coaches in college, but he was awful as head coach of the Pats. Look at Norv Turner out in San Diego. Any way that you can systematically kill an organization, that guy has done it. As an offensive coordinator he is probably the best in the business, but he is a ****** head coach. I'll argue that with anyone every day, but I'd be surprised to hear a non-Charger fan do it. The list goes on and on for this. Mike Shula, Ron Zook, etc.

Probably the same deal with coach O. We aren't going to land every single badass recruit in TN. It won't ALWAYS happen. Doesn't mean that something special isn't going to happen at Tenn, though.
