Got some trout in th freezer I need to use up. But, I do freeze them in water filled freezer bags, so they never really get freezer burn. My Gpop was of hte don't stuff away generation. (AS eveidenced by cleaning out the garage after their passings). But, he had a use for it all. The half gallon plastic milk jugs would be cleaned and the tops trimmed out. This would hold the trout upright as the water froze and were easy to line up in the freezer. Half gallon milk bottles he left intact would serve as frozen juice containers for his homemade grape juice from his grape vines. Loved, loved that grape juice. The wine was never good. Prob a combo of him and the wrong grape. It was a red/purple grape but the flavor always had a nod of muscadine in it.

Next time through K'town I should ride by their old house and see if the current residents left that grape vine growing. Slip in at night and dig it up. If that thing is still kicking it would be well over 50 years old.

Now back to the yummy grilled trout filet.

sushi

Flying Dragon Roll.

It was ok, not something I'd get again anytime soon
Had Sams Club sushi recently. Pretty good actually. My company makes the millwork counter for the new food kiosks going into the updated Sams.

We had an excellent sushi/japanese joint in Cookeville, but they up and closed a year or so ago. Same family owned that, the House of Thai, and Rice Time Bistro. They brought several of the popular items from two of the places into HOT during covid. The sushi joint eventually re-closed, but maybe someone else took over Rice Time cause it re-opened fully and is doing well. But, they are top 2-3 asian joints in town.

If you're in Cookeville and want good asian that's not off the Sisco delivery truck, try Rice Time Bistro, My Thai, or Pin Asian. Phil-Thai is also very good and is home/street traditional style as well as the other 3. We also have our share is Sisco/US Foods Mexican and Chinese joints too. It's hard to find true home style legit mexican and asian joints but they do exist.
