What do we need to see this weekend?

After getting mauled by Ducks like a toddler holding a loaf of bread at Daddy's baited blind, I'm actually still in shell-shock. I know I didn't see anything I wanted to see last Saturday.

So what do we need to see this Saturday against what used to be a more potent river dweller - the hated Gators?

I feel like my shower discipline is off, and what I'm about to say still has the stink of the Bamboo Farmer on it, but here goes:

1. I want to see no Gator play go for more than 25 yards this weekend.

2. I want to see no more than three Gator plays between 20 - 25 yards.

3. I want us to be 50% on stopping Gators on 3rd down.

4. I want us to force two turnovers and score from at least one.

5. I want to look like the "power spread" team we are supposed to be and I want to rush for 100 yards by hook or by crook against this awesome Gator defense.

I don't know how to feel stating such modest goals for the once might Vols. I expect to lose by more than 20 points. Brick-by-brick.

(PS - I truly expect the majority of responses to be Dobbs, Ferg, Dobbs, Dobbs, Dobbs, Ferg, Peterman, Dobbs)

This is PS NCAA football on jr. Level!

Muskrat whining and complaining that Worley and/or our QB's are kicking his defense's @$$ and they can't stop us. That's about all I would like to see.

:good!: :spank:

I Want to see a determined, angry team out to prove that they weren't as bad as they looked last week. We're still a long ways away from playing head to head with the SEC bigs. I see some folks on here don't know the meaning of "brick by brick". Patience grasshoppers.

Good post but they will never understand. We do not yet have the talent to do what they want. What is funny Ala could not do what they demand Tenn. to do.

A team that's sick and freaking tired of getting their azz handed to them... and ready to do something about it. I understand attention to detail and discipline, etc. but sometimes you can get too caught up in all that and play so tight that you couldn't drive a greased bb up your butt. Just go find a gator and knock the snot bubbles out of him, with malice.

He guys, I think it's going to be another tough day Sat., that's what we've been unbuilding toward for the last 3 Coaches. Butch will get it done, but now if anyone can run faster than a limp we can't catch them. Brick by brick, we need 85 and only have less than 20. As for QB, I'm not sure we have a brick in the bunch.

I just want to see improvement. I knew this year would be tough, especially with this schedule. I expect to see a visible improvement against the Gators. I am well aware our return to prominence may be a long process though :(

A few big plays of more than 25yds wouldn't hurt as would seeing our defense tackle instead of wave at tight ends and RB's as they go by. A great deal of luck wouldn't hurt either.

I wanna see:

1. Marlon Lane start at RB...
2. Peterman start at QB...
3. Our OL man up and push some guys off the ball...
4. Less East & West runs and more North and South...
5. The QB actually KEEP the ball on the read...
6. Our DBs actually know their assignment & stick with it...no shame in getting beat by superior athletes, but not KNOWING your assignment is without excuse...
7. Maggitt back and playing at 100%....
8. Croom and North catch more than one pass...and catch it further than 10 yards down the field...
9. Our special teams hold Fla to less than 20 yds per return on KO's and less than 10 yds a return on punts
10. An actual BOOTLEG play...
11. A screen to the RB...
12. 200 yds rushing by us....
13. +2 on turnover ratio for the VOLS...
14. a physical, smash-mouth performance by the VOLS...
15. Hold Fla to less than 150 yds rushing...& less than 350 total yards of offense...
16. BETTER play from our safeties and LBs...
17. 3 sacks of the Gator QB...

I guess that I could go on, but I'm not down on my VOLS...I predicted Oregon to beat us 52-21--the Ducks just might have enough to beat Bama..., and I honestly don't expect us to have enough to beat the Gators this year in Gainesville---BUT,

I expect our beloved VOLS to come out eating lightning and crapping thunder in the Swamp! CBJ is as competitive as anyone I've ever seen--and I think he has what it takes to lead us to be a SEC contender in the next few years....

It's not a disgrace to lose, but I expect our VOLS to show a mercenary heart and take no prisoners this Saturday. GO VOLS!
