What do y'all think Georgia's record will be in 2014?

Of course I can debate it. It's impossible to sign the top players in a state that produces so much talent, not to mention that UGA also recruits FL and the Carolinas very well.

Also, many players have no connections to the instate schools. Some players are mainly interested with early playing time. I could go on and on. Recruiting always works itself out when you have a competent staff that can recruit well.

1. Florida has an even bigger problem with players "not having connections" to in state schools. They still do pretty well at keeping their talent home between the three big school.

2. Is it impossible, or are you just used to the mediocrity that is Richt?

3. Early playing time? You guys are losing most of you're top talent to Alabama, Clemson, and other elite schools. It's not like Kentucky is eating you alive.

A Butch-like coach at UGA is scary, but thank God we have Butch here.

i really hope you are kidding.. no way is butch can be compared to CMR right now. CMR's record speaks for itself. If Butch ever gets to up his level career wise then Vol fans should be very proud about that. CMR has won 75% of his games in the toughest conference in the nation. I am very proud he is our coach and look forward to what he can continue to do while in Athens.

If CMR goes 7-5 or 8-4 he'll be on the hotseat with UGA fans.

Population of Florida is double that of Georgia. The comparison is a red herring. The real question is how in the heck does a school like bama in a relatively thinly populated state do so well.

Florida has far more instate competition, which really levels the playing field.

Alabama actually does fairly well in recruits, although the population is lower, there is a higher percentage that come out of Alabama If you use NFL stats, based on players coming from particular states it's... Alabama based on ratios is usually in the top 10 if not the top 5. With that said, I think Bama's current roster for 2013 was actually kind of weak with players from the State, Nick has had to go out of state in a big way.

18 (or so) of the 26 2014 class are from outside of state, LSU has now stopped playing with in-state guys as 11 of the 23 recruits were from out of state.

Louisiana is usually the richest state if you use NFL figures for a rough guess on ratios.... Mississippi is up there too.

I don't think Alabama could be in the top 5 year in and year out without major recruiting outside the State, I think LSU and maybe the Florida schools or maybe Texas could do it but that is about it.

Alabama produces a lot of high school talent per capita. Louisiana is similar, if not a tad better.

Both states are top 10 in producing talent pretty much every year in spite of their respective populations.

As much as I love Butch, ZDT is right. CMR has won less than 8 games once since he took the job at UGA. While I have faith Butch will be every bit as good (hopefully better) than Richt, he's a ways away from there at this point. I say UGA wins 9 games, maybe 10. Getting rid of Grantham was almost as good as getting rid of Sal. Almost...

i could see that. our schedule is setup very well and we got a ton of talent on this team.

Who's the UGA alum in the SEC office who has dirt on Slive? There's got to be something to explain the favorable scheduling y'all have gotten the last few years (granted last year was tougher with AU surprising even themselves). In basketball this year y'all managed to only play us, UF and UK once and avoided Vandy in Memorial, which is always tough despite their talent.

Georgia has the easiest schedule in the conference for 2014. Their toughest road game is in Columbia, they get UF on a neutral field, lowly Arkansas is their SECW rotated team, and get AU at home. Anything less than SECE/SECC titles is underachieving.

Missouri will be as tough a road game as Carolina.

I think Georgia has the potential to go undefeated in regular season play if they can stay healthy. They actually have a pretty favorable conference slate, especially considering I think Auburn and Missouri fall back to Earth this year. South Carolina is the other main threat in the SEC East this year, and barring any sort of big, insane surprises, I think UGA-SCAR game determines who wins the East in 2014.

OOC-wise, that Clemson game is going to be tough, but other than that, they've got Troy, who is a decent mid-major program, but is unlikely to be able to compete with Georgia. Charleston Southern, who HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, and Georgia Tech. Anything can happen in rivarly games, but Georgia's going to have a pretty nice talent advantage.

More than likely though, they'll probably drop a game or two they shouldn't have and end up at 10-2 or 9-3 (assuming that this is a relatively healthy team without last year's injury mayhem).

I do not believe the QB position will allow georgia to escape at least a few losses. With their schedule I do not see more than 2. 10-2 & SEC east champs.

I agree with you on Mason, he still has to prove himself. He's been pretty good so far and he is a fifth year senior. He'll definitely be pushed this Spring because there's some good talent behind him.

We are stacked at rb which should take some pressure off him and we have three wide receivers that will really help him out.

All depends on Gurley and CB's. Tony Bernhart(?) said Gurley's injury is worse than being reported.
